2 or 3 day ticket vs. AP

It looks like a 2 day ticket with Express Unlimited is only slightly more than an Premier AP which would allow express pass after 4 pm. We haven't been to Universal in years but wondering if it would be worth it to get the AP. We are empty nesters and could easily drive or fly down another time or two during the year for long weekends. There is no availability for our week in June at one of the Universal resorts so that option is out to get the express passes. What makes the AP worth it instead of a couple day ticket?

Just looked at AP reservations and wow June is busy! How late are the parks open and would you enjoy touring after 4 pm. If you had a good plan, did RD etc., I think you could do both parks in one day with EPs and just revisit your favourite rides using the ordinary lines on the second day.
The APs give some discounts on food and merchandise, parking (and hotels for future visits).
I think I would choose APs and be ready to maximise my use of the included EPs as soon as the clock strikes 4pm.

Can you clarify what you mean by AP reservations? I thought that there was no reservation system at US and IOA. Thanks!

I think they were referring to AP rates at the hotels or lack there of meaning hotels have sold most of their AP rooms/reservations.
