2 new stores opening at DLR this week!!

Thanks for that info!

The peanut brittle is not new to DLR. It is sold in other sweet shops around DLR. In fact, even though I like the idea that they are opening up something new, I am surprised that they are devoting space to yet another candy-sweets type shop when they already have several of those at DLR.

Why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why can't they put a store back in DLR exactly like the magical little year-round Christmas shop they used to have in Fantasyland in the old days? Even that L'Ornament Magique store in NOS wasn't the same as the cute little shop they used to have in FL.

Or - why can't they put back the cooking/cookware store they used to have in NOS? That was a gem!

Jewel of Orleans puzzles me. Did they just close Jewel of Orleans in DL (or were about to close it)? I read it on Miceage in January. http://micechat.com/disneyland-news/jewel-of-new-orleans-closing/

So is this new Jewel of Orleans a bigger, better version of that?

I wonder what shops are being closed down to make way for these other shops?

The old Jewel of Orleans store was actually owned or run (not sure on the logistics) by Dianne's Estate Jewellery and it sounds like the new store is not affiliated with them at all.

Very interesting! So from the looks of it, Disney must own the name "Jewel of Orleans" and the actual design of the store sign (because the design looks either the same or quite similar in both versions of the store), but I guess the contents of the old store that just closed were owned by Dianne's, while the merchandise in the new store will be Disney-owned.

The old Jewel or Orleans was fancy, expensive stuff. From the blog pics, it looks like the new Jewel of Orleans will be lower priced and more like Tren-D's jewelry in WDW.

I'm happy that there's going to be another candy store in Fantasyland; I remember getting rock candy on every trip to the Park as a kid, from a store that was in the Castle.

The trendy jewelry store in NOS I could do without, though...it seems to me that the area is already pretty much saturated with stuff you could find at Hot Topic in a regular mall. Not that I have anything against Hot Topic, but the Park needs more "only at the DLR" shopping experiences & less "you could get the exact same thing at the mall...at half the price!" type stores, IMO. I agree with Sherry E...they should put the gourmet shop back in NOS. It was a perfect fit for the area, and a great place to bring back unique, useful items for gifts and for personal use.

I think a good idea for a shop in DL would be a store that recreated retro Disneyland souvenirs. Like reproductions of stuff they sold in the 50s or 60s. Urban Outfitters sells newly produced nick knacks, like stuff I have that used to be my Grandmothers, little figurines, glass ware etc. It's like garage sale finds but new. I would buy Disney versions of those things. Just an idea.

I miss the old jewelry store. The estate jewelry they had was beautiful. I loved looking at everything (even though I couldn't afford any of it.)
