You can get whooping cough as an adult?
Don't we get a shot for that?

apparently so. I don't know if we get shots for that. I guess that's why they missed it.

she wants to see me again on Monday.

:grouphug: I'm sorry they took so long to figure it out, but I'm gald someone finally got it right Buffy!! I have to say that in recent years the "doctors" that I've liked best have been the nurse practitioners. ::yes::

It always makes me nervous when I hear that someone gets diagnosed with Whooping Cough. DD only ever got 2 of the shots because she had 2 serious reacitons when she was little. We had to wait a couple weeks for her last booster because the doctor's office only carries DPT now - not the DT that she needed.

I hope you get better quickly!

That's one you don't hear every day! Glad you finally got the right diagnosis and hopefully will get the right treatment to start feeling better!

I hope you feel better real soon!

Hope you feel better soon..
Yep, thought we were immunized for that years ago... but it wouldn't surprise me if we didn't get one...

thanks for the well wishes. :grouphug:

I sound terrible! Barking yucky sounds and is comes out of no where. Tea, coffee (yes I said coffee LOL), and DH's special meds (whisky, honey, and lemon) are helping a bit, but man does it hurt.

I really hope this gets better soon. And I was a ton better in FL, I think I have had enough of cold weather! Being -8 with wind chill today does not help!

UGH! Well I hope you start feeling better soon. And I agree ... I <3 my NP - very rarely do I see my actual MD anymore.

The NP just started, we lost the one we had because her DH is military and they were transferred to VA and then she had twins and then 2 more kids.

My GMD's wife just started there too. I like the NP though, she diagnosed DS7 with christmas tree rash, I had never heard of it before. Very interesting illness.

She made me google.

Christmas tree rash (pityriasis rosea)
Named for its sweeping presentation, the Christmas tree rash is a fine, scaly rash that ranges in color from pink to tan. It often starts as one larger spot at the spine or the midline of the back or front of the body (herald patch) and spreads outward. The rash, which may be caused by a virus, is usually only mildly itchy and may flake or peel.

This skin condition is common in teenagers and young adults and occurs more frequently in the fall and spring. It usually resolves without treatment in four to six weeks but can last up to 12 weeks. Contact your doctor if the rash is uncomfortable or painful.

ack you beat me to it! DS had the one on the right. Very weird virus type thing. She said he was only the second case she had seen.
the herald patch was funky!

oh yes, this was right when school started. It only lasted 3 weeks. Trying to explain what it was to the nurse was fun. She had to google it too.

He was contagious before the rash broke out but she wasn't going to try to explain it to the other parents so she let it go.

You could see the herald spot though so I couldn't hide it, that and he told everyone he saw what he had. It was funny!

Oh my goodness, Buffy! I'm glad they've discovered what it is! I hope you feel better soon!! :grouphug:

I am glad you know what is wrong so you can get better. The weather down here in Florida is downright frigid. We had a hard freeze warning that meant cover all your outdoor plants last night.

we made it to 20º as the high today but the wind chill was anywhere from the single digits to 0º. But it will be 57 by Tuesday. I think that's why I'm staying sick, it has not gotten cold enough to kill all the germs.

I feel bad for floridians, since most people don't have heat in there houses. When we were there earlier in Dec there was an article in the paper about house fires from fireplaces in FL.

I hope ya'll are warm enough!

Glad they got you a diagnosis.

My mom and a coworker both just got a booster for whooping cough since they will be around my baby. They are both in their mid 50s and were told they should get a booster if they were going to be around an infant. Who knew the shots just don't last I guess.
