I am toying with booking a trip next March to Hilton Head, but there is currently no availability for studios or 1 bedroom. A 2BR will work, especially of we take 1-2 of the adult kids, and it isn’t much more than the 1BR. Problem is I need more points than I have available in a single membership. I have 34pts in membership #1 (direct) and 66pts in membership #2 (resell). Both are August UY and trip would occur prior to our banking window, Reservation requires 24 pts per night.
These are the options I am considering:
Availability at Hilton Head tends to go quickly at 7 months, so I feel like I need to be prepared to book it (transfer points early or try to book dummy reservation). However, I am not sure of DH’s schedule and the trip actually happening is probably 50/50.
Looking for advice from others with multiple memberships. Which option would you suggest? Are there other options I’m not thinking about?
These are the options I am considering:
- If I don’t borrow points, I can only get 1 night with mem. #1 and 2 nights with mem. #2 and hopefully would not have to move rooms.
- If I transfer points to one of the memberships, I could get 4 nights under 1 reservation.
- I can buy up to 24 OTU points (per membership). I need 6 OTU points in mem #2 to get 3 nights and the 4th night would be under mem. #1. OTU points can’t be banked or transferred, correct?
- I could borrow points from mem. #2, but borrowed points can be banked or transferred,
