Sooooo I cleared the waitlist for BWV - YAY! Which means I now have 2 extra points that will expire at the end of September - BOO! I currently have a 1 night reservation in early September and trying to decide what to do from the following three options:

1) Keep my 1 night reservation as is and let the 2 points go
2) Cancel my 1 night and book 2 nights (borrowing from 2023) later in September and hope we don't get a hurricane (not that I'm worried about a hurricane at Disney - my hubby won't let me leave him at home running a generator while I have power at Disney!)
3) See if anyone needs 2 points as part of a transfer that they could use between now and the end of September

I suppose there is a 4th option which is spread out my risk, book an extra night at some point in the next month, borrowing points, and make the drive twice...

Note to self: with an Oct UY, I should only plan day trips in September!!!

WWYD?

I would just let them go. Everything else seems like a lot of work to "save" less than $20 (dues on the 2 points) or would involve spending more money to use the 2 points.

P.S. If the points are banked, they can't be transferred. If they can be transferred, I would offer them to someone on our R/T Board. No charge to use the DIS R/T Board if you offer them for free.

I'd go with the extra night option. Just because two nights is better than one. Of course that assumes borrowing this points wouldn't adversely affect a planned trip in the next use year.

There's zero chance I'm wasting good points to save bad. Those 2 points are, at absolute best, worth about $36-$40. I'd let them die a quiet death and be done with it. No messing with current reservations, borrowing from next year just to use them, spending time trying to rent them, transfer them or give them away, etc.

I disagree Don. I think there is someone out there who might be 2 points shy of a reservation that they might want and to gift them to someone would put a smile on my face as well as theirs.

Sure, you can throw the idea out there to give them away, no one said they can't be used by SOMEONE, but the likelihood of finding that Goldilocks situation is absolutely tiny, and the member in need of just two points is more likely to just buy two OTU points for $44.00.

I posted on the trade/rent board about 6-7 yrs ago that we had 4 extra points and was able to gift the 4 points that someone needed to complete a trip. It was a good feeling.
