2 IDs needed for flying now???

Dh just came home from talking to some friends who are flying down to WDW on the 9th. Seems their TA sent them a note telling them that they now needed two forms of ID to fly...as did their 7 y/o twin boys!! They're flying out of Boston. Has anyone else heard this? I can't imagine why they would say that....the TA told my friend that 'due to increased security measures, two forms of ID are now needed'.
Any recent experiences?

I haven't heard this. Seems to me that this would be big enough news so that we'd hear it on TV.

I don't fly a lot, but I have flown twice this summer -- one international flight on Delta in May, and one domestic flight on Airtran in June. Just 1 ID on all legs of those flights.

That was my first thought also. I can't imagine all those people arriving with drivers licenses in hand and being told they need another form of ID. I wonder if the TA was confused (never heard of that happening before!!) and was thinking about having to have two forms of ID if you don't have a photo ID. Could be.

I would say 'confused' with the statement that to fly transborder US-Canada ONE of TWO forms of ID is acceptable - a valid passport OR Nexus program card

There - are you more confused? oh, and I have YET to find an American airport employee or TSA agent who knew what a Nexus card was, let alone accepted one as valid ID

I found this on the Delta website under "What You'll Need" for checking in. (Red highlighting is mine.)

Elsewhere on the website, they tell you to be sure to know the checking requirements for your airport. Maybe the Boston airport has increased its own security measures.

well, if there's any airport that increases security, it's not likely to be Logan.

i searched news.google.com for "airline identification" by both relevance and date and found no such reports of two items required.

not that i meant to politicize the question, it just seemed kinda funny that it's the most relevant article.

anyway, the TA is either slightly confused or way ahead of the curve. if it's the latter, sign me up!

Now that's funny!!! We both headed to Delta's site to see what they said.

bavaria...I'm always confused!! You already knew that. Come on now....I know we up north, but the TA certainly doesn't think that Boston is in Canada!!!! If it's the TA I think it is, that is possible. I used her for my first visit to WDW back in '99. All I wanted was for my dd to have her 6th birthday dinner at CRT. The TA called me about a month before the date of the birthday and said, and I quote, "I guess you have to call for that meal really early. They had nothing available for dinner the whole time you'll be there!!" That was when you could call 60 days before. Yep, TA's are something else.

DH just flew out of (and back into) Logan last week. He only had his driver's license as ID and that's all he needed. I'd say that TA was a bit confused.

My dh flew from boston to phillly yesterday 7/26 with my 12yo dd and he only needed his ID and my 12yo dd needed - as usual nothing.

I would refer to the TSA website for all info...

We are flying continental - according to their website 18+ require one photo ID and children -18 no id required.
