2-hour "shopping pass"? How does it work?

Soo...we are arriving late in the afternoon on a Sunday and are not planning to purchase tickets for that day. However, as my kids are little (3 and 5) I thought it would be fun to get them a Mr. Potato Head with all the great Disney pieces so they could play with I checked previous posts, and it seems like the shop where the Potato Heads/parts are sold is right inside California Adventure (Engine Ears Toys).

I read somewhere that I can get a 2-hour "shopping pass" - really just for instances like this one. How do I do this? Anyone out there have experience?

Thanks!

I recall thay will give it to you but only for one person. You get it from the ticket window. Have you looked into adding an extra day? Sometimes it works out to only about $5 per person and you could have it for more than an hour. If you ride 2 rides AND get the Mr Potato Head, it would be a bargain!

You go to customer service. They take your credit card number. If you're not back in 2 hours they bill it! So as long as you know what you're buying, it's a great opportunity

From my understaning (someone please correct me if I am wrong) the Mr Potato Head is available at the toy store in Downtown Disney. This area does not require a ticket or a pass and your entire family could go together, not just one of you.

The Downtown Disney district is very "disney" and will give you and your kids that excited "we are at Disney" feel and you should be able to get the Mr Potato Head to entertain for the evening

Yes, check World of Disney in DTD, as the previous poster said. Otherwise, Mr. Potato and parts are in EnginEars in DCA and the Gag factory way back in ToonTown.

Also, I could be very wrong about this, but it was my understanding that the shopping pass could only be used for an hour or two in the early morning, like if you had been in the park the night before and forgot to get something, but also that it only applied to the stores on Main Street, not in the rest of the parks. Perhaps things have changed. Can anyone confirm or deny this? It was a while ago that I read it and I have never needed to use the pass.

According to the MouseSavers website, the pass is good for only one hour. They require a credit card or cash deposit, and only one person in the party can receive one. In addition, the pass is not available after 4 pm.

I have no idea if you're limited to any set of stores, but I do know that you have to show a recent upon your return?

Yay, thanks. This totally solves my problem. :goodvibes

DH did this last spring. It is a one hour pass, not two. Only one person may use it to go in. It is only available before 4 p.m. Customer service keeps your credit card as security and time stamps your entry; you must return within the hour or be charged for a day's admission. You are not limited to where you can go in the parks; DH jogged all over the park in his hour. THey asked him how much he spent while in the park when he returned; I have heard others say that they had to show a receipt, but they didn't ask him to show it, just wanted a rough dollar amount.

Thanks for clearing all of that up. It is a good service to provide. It seems to be for those folks who forget to buy something and remember it later, or maybe are not sure they should buy it and than want it later, and need to bring it back home with them. Also, many of these folks probably don't know about Disneyland DelivEars, and that they could just order whatever it is after they get home. But it is a good option just in case you do need to bring that little special something home with you to give to someone.
