2 hour bus ride to the airport

Just off the Treasure yesterday. It was a 2 hour bus ride to the airport due to construction traffic. We noticed the traffic on our way to the port and hoped we wouldn't get stuck in it yesterday, but nope - we were crawling as the highway was down to one lane. We didn't even arrive at the airport until after 10:30am. The airport was a zoo - 4 ships were in port yesterday which I assume contributed to the chaos.

If you are cruising in the next few months, make sure your flight time won't be an issue if you get stuck in that traffic. We had a 1:50pm flight and we didn't have much time at the airport before boarding.

I really miss the days when you could check your luggage through to your final destination on board.

We were on the same cruise! Our bus driver took a detour to avoid the traffic, but it still took us almost two hours to get to the airport. Luckily our flight wasn't until 2:59 pm so we still had plenty of time.

This happened to us in March, too. The driver said that lane closures meant that he had to take a detour, so it took us two hours to get back to MCO. It looks this is an ongoing problem.

Yeah, 528 was pretty bad last week when I was driving to Disney Springs to meet some friends for dinner. Ended up redirected on some stupid routing.

we were on the same sailing and had the same problem yesterday but a late flight so no issues but we had 4 small children in our group and they were not enthused

we left the ship at 830 and made it for our 1255pm flight on time with about an hour to spare

Unfortunately state road work is not something in Disney's control.

no one said it is but the driver did tell us 45 mins when we got on and i think OP is sending out a PSA to those who try early flights but disney does advise against that anyways as things can be unpredictable as such

I like the Port of Miami because it is only 25 minutes from the MIA airport. It's also possible to get a hotel only 5 minutes away from the Miami cruise terminal.

Nothing was more convenient than Vancouver where that hotel is actually at the port, requiring only rolling your bags from hotel room to the ship. Yes, that hotel was expensive!

The Pan Pacific? It was awesome and you didn't need to roll your luggage to the ship, you could call up their Bell Services and they would do it for you.

But we do not enjoy sailing out of Miami, but we are Florida Residents.

we are staying at the pan pacific next year for this reason! what did you use for transportation from airport to hotel and after the cruise to airport? we have two that would need carseats

There's a train from the airport to a station next to the hotel. It's cheap, fast, and easy. Or, you can get a taxi from the taxi queue.

We took the train from the airport to the Pan Pacific and it was easy. We took a cab back from the cruise to the airport (but didn't need carseats.)

It's been 10 years since I was at the Pan Pacific, but I vaguely remember having a pre-paid voucher from Princess to cover the taxi ride from the airport to the hotel. I don't remember the cost.
