I can make the VWL reservation 11 months out ONLY for the points I have in my account (on hand, banked or borrowed). I can't book for any extra nights over the points in my account at that time?
Yes, but I would amend your statement above to read "ONLY for points I have in my account
on the check-in date."
If you have a June Use Year and want to book a December stay at your Home resort, you can call and reserve the room as early as January (11 mos from check-out.) Even though the points are not coming until June, you can still book in January. They key is that the points will be accessible when December arrives.
To complicate things just a bit, let's say that your December stay will actually take 120 points and you only receive 100 in June. The 20 points can be borrowed from the next Use Year. However the borrowing occurs at
the time the reservation is made. So, booking that December '05 stay will use all of your '05 points and twenty of your '06 points, the '06 points are moved into the '05 Use Year when you make the reservation. If you have to cancel later, the '06 points STAY in the '05 Use Year and cannot be banked.
If I'm using OKW 100 points, I'd have to wait until the 7 month point and book an "add-on reservation using those points?
Correct.
Note that in the prior response I walked you through a borrowing example. If your intention is to alternate stays between OKW and VWL, you can use banking and borrowing to your advantage to book at 11 mos.
Example:
2005 want to stay at VWL. Use 2005 VWL points and borrow from 2006 to give yourself 200 total points. 2005 OKW points are banked into '06.
2006 want to stay at OKW. Use 2005 banked points and 2006 current year points. VWL points have already been used.
When can you book using "transferred", i.e. rented points from another
DVC member (and do they have to be tied into the specific resort, in this case VWL?).
Points transferred from another member retain their original Use Year. If you want to book VWL at 11 mos, you need to rent VWL points.
