2 GTY 9A staterooms on wonder - chance of connecting?

We are 2 adults and 4 kids (split 1 adult and 2 kids per stateroom) for an upcoming cruise on the wonder in 2020. We were only able to get two GTY 9A staterooms ( which means we could be on decks 5,6 or 7 forward). Our reservations are linked, however we are worried our two staterooms might get split up and placed on different decks. Unfortunately there are no other rooms that we can upgrade to so far. Does anyone have any experience travelling GTY with more than one stateroom? Thanks

When you book GTY you give up any control of where your cabin is. DCL will assign cabins based on what is available. And yes - you could be separated into different floors or even into different categories.

You must assume your cabins will not be together. GTY and *GT bookings are used to fill cabins that haven’t been booked specifically.

We did VGT with my daughter a couple years ago on The Fantasy and were shocked we were put side by side in a connector, we figured a first & last of that ever happening again.
Her MIL was about 10 doors down from us with her VGT.

If at all possible Disney will keep you together but when they go an assign the rooms if only options are on different decks that is what you will get. If it does you can always check at the port to see if any other rooms are available to move you. Since you are in a actual category in a guarantee you can also keep checking online to see if people cancel and rooms open up then ask Disney to move you into those rooms if within your room category or switching room categories. Not sure when you are traveling, if soon may not be an option.

Keep an eye on things and I’m 99.9% sure something between now and PIF will open up..

We typically book late (cast rates so 4-6 weeks out) and are 2/2 getting connecting rooms so it’s definitely possible-
