I did a search but couldn't find anything conclusive(at least not recently). Can we link 2 different credit cards to our room keys? :confused3I would like my family (4 of us) to have our room keys linked to our credit card. My parents are staying with us in a 2BR, and we would like them to be able to link their room keys to their credit card. Some say yes, some say no, some say CMs have told them yes, but they chose not to. Anyone have any recent experience where they successfully linked room keys to different credit cards? I would prefer not to wait until check out to do this, so any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Sheri

Having shared a room with a friend and her family several times now at various resorts (even HHI 2x), I can tell you, you can use two credit cards to settle your bill at the end of your stay, but you would have to itemize your own charges using the folio numbers on the bill and then tell the CM exactly how much to charge to each card. Since that would have been a nightmare for us, we charged everything to our room and our friend did not, taking a credit card with them in the parks for their charges.

but based on personal experience as well as others as reported here, I will never again link a cc to a room key. We had our cc info comprimised when doing this at ssr. Never again.

The answer is no.

I was under the assumption that this IS now possible (one room, multiple CCs) following the resort computer upgrades implemented in the fall of 2010.

But wouldn't your odds of having the CC information stolen increase exponentially if you are using the card at multiple restaurants and shops throughout WDW? I can understand the "once burned, twice shy" aspect of it but from an analytical standpoint, it seems like you're putting yourself at greater risk by allowing restaurant servers and store clerks to disappear with the card for several minutes rather than having it swiped once at the resort front desk.

In fact, entering the credit card info as part of on-line check-in removes the human element altogether.

That said, guests do need to be diligent in protecting their room key when setting up charging privileges. In that sense, losing a room key is no different than dropping your CC on the ground.

Thank you all for your input. I think we will use our CC for the room and have my parents use their CC separately for their purchases. marynvince: I deal with cc fraud at my job. Your number may have been coincidentally compromised while you were at SSR (unless all the charges were at DW). There is more risk in using your card at all the different merchants than there is with giving it to the hotel and charging everything to your room. Again, I could be wrong, but from my experience, the fraud does not typically have anything to with where you are at at the time it occurs.
Again, thanks for your info/advice!

I thought that was one of the 2011 changes that you could have more than one credit on the account, two families two cc. Are you saying the bill still comes up with the charges all on the same statement?

We did this for our March trip so it is technically possible.

However ....
We had a split stay and for the first room it was easily done and there were no issues. For the second room the the CM was unsure how to do it and had a lot of trouble doing it and it took a number of tries and about 45 minutes. This was bad enough but the credit card company canceled our friends card on suspicion of fraud just after this occurred. So they were without this card for the remainder of the trip and had to deal with all the changes associated with a new credit card number when they got home. It may have been a coincident that the fraud flag occurred just after this but I suspect not.

So...
If the CM has no problem setting it up initially I would do it. If they are hesitant at all I would use one card and settle up after the trip.

We were told in January that only one card could be used, maybe it changed since then. We always review the bill the night before check out anyway and we tell the Front Desk CM which key code gets paid with which CC. Not a big deal and we have never had any problems.

As far as someone skimming your card number, it can happen anywhere. There was a CM last year who worked at SSR and OKW who was arrested for skimming and we have had our CC skimmed at BWV and BCV a few years ago.

Note that the charges do show itemized by card - so as long as no one swaps their KTTW cards, you can divvy up the bill pretty easily at the end.

You can do this.

We had three cards under one reservation for our January 16-23 stay at Kidani Village (2 bedroom). We were told that with the new system it was possible, so I had my CC on my room card, my Sister-in-law had her CC on her husband's/her room card, and my Brother-in-law had his CC on his wife's/his room card. Took maybe five minutes and worked perfect.

Hope this helps. ;)

I would agree, except in this instance the only place we used it was at the resort.

Right, but Tim's point is that there is no reason in particular to believe that the server you hand it to in Le Cellier (or Emporium, or ...) is any less likely to skim your number than someone at the resort. The fewer times you use the actual credit card, the better.

That said, I hardly even care about card compromises at this point. I've had two incidents in the past five years or so. The bank finds it before I do, they eat the loss, and it's not particularly troublesome to get a new card. A minor annoyance to change card numbers for recurring charges, but no big deal as long as you have another card you can use while you are traveling.

We were able to use 2 credit cards in Dec., just a few days after some system upgrades at BCV. (I was told that we wouldn't have been able to do this prior to the system upgrade). Our room bill did itemize by credit card. It worked well for my family to have charges to one card and my brother's family to have charges to another.

We did this with my parents in March. We billed almost everything to our rooms, and the purchases went on the appropriate credit cards.

As mentioned earlier, all purchases are itemized, so you can clear up any discrepancies (although we had none).

Yes, you can, and we just did this at BLT last week. My brother stayed with us and had his cc put on his room key, and DH and I had our cc on our keys. That being said - you cannot add the card when doing online check in, which should be changed IMHO. I did our online check in without adding a cc, since I knew it would go on all 3 key cards. When we checked in, the CM seemed a tad annoyed that he would have to recut all the key cards so that the cc info could be added. Well hey, it wasn't our fault - the system won't allow it.
