A friend of mine each use ECV's when we are at Disney, and we are considering Animal Kingdom Lodge, but hate the idea of bus transportation everywhere. What are the Lyft/Uber options? Do they have a vehicle that 2 ECV's will fit in or will we require 2 vehicles?

Honestly, the only way we made it work was renting a Dodge Caravan (or similar size minivan) and putting the back row down. But this was with two Pride Victory 10s. A 10 day rental was about $400 for 10 days. Just be aware they can be hefty, but we were able to out them in without taking them apart.

You *can* use Disney Transportation with 2 ECVs in your party - it can take a bit more time (and patience) but folks do it on the regular.

You will also be able to get both ECVs into your Disney Resort Hotel room for charging - be sure to charge both of them fully over night, every night so that you can go go go and have all the fun the next day! 🙂

Rideshare might be rough. I’m interested to hear others experiences with that though I’d figure it to be more hassle (and pricey) compared to using the buses. You may need to order an XL car option and taking 2 in & out has its challenges.

We had 2 ECV with my MIL and rented an SUV. We’ve also done buses which went okay.

Our last trip we did the busses, I wasn't a fan on the ECV. Felt guilty holding up the bus when all the people wanted was to go to the park.

But... you wanted to go to the Park too, right? And you were a Guest at Disney World, just like they were! The only difference is that you were using a personal mobility device to allow you move around. That's it. You were using a *tool* to accomplish a task - no different than someone who uses glasses to see better, or hearing aids to hear better.

Never feel guilty for using the accommodations you need to have the best possible experience. Those are there so that you can have a great trip too! 🙂

I agree about not feeling guilty. We found on our last trip with 2 ECVs that while many drivers will give you the opportunity to 'park it' yourself, if they think you are having trouble they gladly will 'drive' you into the spot. Takes much less time, and in my case, it was much easier on the bus.

I do know what you mean about feeling guilty - everyone else is watching, and while you may have done it perfectly the last time, sometimes, it just does not go smoothly. I have no issues with the driver "helping".

I would love to be able to use alternate transportation, but we found the buses to be very manageable while we were there in last week.

ETA: Also, while the ECVs are first to load on to the bus, they are the last to unload, so by the time we are off the bus, the rest of the passengers are long gone.

Thanks for that. I'm going to memorize your response for when I get dirty looks from people anxious to get on the bus and get going.

Also remember that while they are getting of and getting going into the parks or into their resort, you get to sit and wait on the bus until everyone else is off before you and your mobility device can be offloaded. You may get to be first on, but you also get to be last off...

Hi, I was wondering about puting the Victory 10 ECV into the van....did you say that you left them in one piece? there will be two of us and I'm kind of not much help when it comes to lifting...do you think that will still work? did you ever take them apart?

We took the seats off once and never did again, it was much easier to fit with the seats on.

We did take one of the arm rests off of each (the ones in the middle). We rarely used more than one arm rest, so it wasn't a big deal to us to just leave them off, but you can do it with them on, just made it a little easier.

If you don't have a lot of strength to lift, remove the batteries first, they are the heaviest part of the scooter.

Other than that, you should be fine.

So then the body of the scooter is relatively easy to put into the back of the van? Do the batteries come out pretty easy? I very rarely use the arm rests either! May I ask who you rented from? I'm looking at Gold...we'll be there 17 days so I'm thinking it's going to be expensive. I really appreciate your replying back to me so quickly! you are awesome!

For 17 days, you will definitely want Gold. They gave a flat rate for 7 days, then a low rate for each additional day, I think $10 or less per additional day. I would recommend calling over booking online, as they might even give you a deal for that long. If you aren't going to use the arm rests at all, you probably can also ask them to take them off to begin with, then you don't need to store them anywhere.

And we were able to out them in and out with the batteries left in, but we had three people. The batteries are really easy to remove, there is a clip that slides out from each and you can pick up the batteries.

We will be staying off property so we'll have to take it in and out of the van often.....good to hear you can lift them! I was really worried about that! I know they aren't too thrilled by your taking the whole thing apart but I wasn't sure if the two of us could lift it. We are going to be there from October 21-November 7 so it'll be right at the Anniversary time...I'm guessing I should reserve a scooter about 2 months out? Thanks for the price tips! it's going to be expensive enough just being there that long and any savings I can get would be appreciated!

The ones from Gold have a bar at the bottom that really helps with lifting as well, but all rental companies have the bar.
