2 drivers killed in head-on collision near Disney

People driving the wrong way on roads at Disney happens more than you think.
.

I wouldn't doubt it-not exactly square city blocks down there. Posting this may get some folks to concentrate more when they do drive-maybe even study a map ahead of time.

Since ME we never have a car anymore. This is one more reason not to IMO.

I was in the van at dry dock when he called another CM and the line went dead. Little did we know why it went dead.

I am in no way saying anything about the poor CM who lost his life...but I do have to comment.

He was on his cell phone, as was the other CM who died tragically earlier this month in her car, running late to work.

Please folks, nothing is that important! Leave your cell phone off when you are in the car! Statistics prove you are much less aware as a driver when you are on your cell phone....

Both stories are very sad.....

As I'm sure everyone here knows, EPCOT Center Drive is an expressway. One would have to be pretty careless (or wasted) to not realize they were entering the wrong direction of an expressway. I'm sure there will be more details in the coming days. Zulemara, so sorry for the loss of your colleague.

Luckily nobody ever drives careless or wasted. I'll stay with no car.

While I respect the point you made, I must ammend my information. The information I posted before was inaccurate. The truth is that my fellow college program co worker was called while we were in the van at dry dock by the authorities and they asked her a couple questions...his name, if she knew him, etc. She was not allowed to tell us what had happened. Now it makes sense why she was being weird on the way home, constantly looking over her shoulder and just looking bewildered. I saw her tonight and she said she was really upset but couldn't tell us.

Typical of cast members, the information from above had gotten twisted.

Very well said, Mike. Talking on a cell phone while TRYING to drive has become one of the leading causes of traffic fatalities and crashes.

again, I agree, but this was NOT the case with Aaron, as my post above indicates

This highlights one dilemma Disney faces. It's on their property, so technically, they are responsible for traffic enforcement. They give that to Orange County Sheriff. But there's the problem. If you allow the laws to be enforced, i.e. speed traps or higher police visibility, you risk chasing off your guests. And no, I don't have a solution. I'm just stating what I have seen.

When I worked in Orlando, I used to drive Epcot Center Drive daily. Though I have never seen anyone driving the wrong direction, that road is like a raceway. I have been passed by people doing at least 80mph, cutting people off to save a few minutes by driving around road construction/traffic off site. They always had local tags, too. They seemed to know, or at least think they knew, the odds of being pulled over on Disney property.

While on the surface that makes sense, it isn't true. I have NEVER seen OCSO hesitate to pull over speeders. I've seen them parked in the median at night with lights off and radar on, I've seen them parked on side roads, I've seen many speeders pulled over! There is no evidence to support that Disney tells them to go light on tourists. There are laws to enforce and they enforce them.
