I wanted to post this since we always read about the bad side of human nature. Those who do good seem to be ignored.
Below is a link to the story.

I also heard an interview a day or two after the accident. Two of the good samaitans running into the water to save the children were two off duty Disney security CMs on their way to work. They were 4 minutes late that day. Sometimes being late can be a good thing. Thankfully for the woman and her kids those two men were running late. I recall at least one performed CPR on at least one of the children.

What was also interesting on that page was another bit of information regarding the murders in the Orlando area. None were near WDW........

To me this just shows to take headlines and news with a grain of salt.
One headline is, "Disney worker arrested after teen-sex chat".
Never saw a headline that read, "Disney Workers Heroically Save Drowning Children".

Ill have to be honest here, so no flames please. As the first law enforcement officer on the scene of the crash. I can tell you really what happened. There were several citizens in the water attempting to get into the van, whcih was completely sunk and laying on its side. they were u nable to gain entry, unitl i got there and used my baton to break out the rear windows. At that time myslef and these citizens worked to get the two children out of the car. with a knife and the luck of finding a few buckles on the car seat, we got the 1 year old out. I gave the child a few breathes and looked to pass off the child to the shore. I saw one of the disney security guys on the shore. I yelled that the secuirty guys knew CPR and to pass the child off to him. Myself and one of other citizens went back in and were able to ge the 3 year old out of the car. The 3 year old was brought to the shore where an off duty paramedic and I began CPR the Osceola County Fire Rescure and Reedy Creek FD arrived and I carried the girl to one ambulance while the paramedics took the smaller child away.

I hate to sound bad here, but at least one of the Disney guys did CPR but did not see either in the water as the paper suggests. There are several persons that were involved in the actual rescue of the kids. Disney will not pass the opportunity of good press and unfortunatly they are capitalizing on something here. If not for the heroics of several other people, not considering myself because I get paid to take action, those children would not have been removed from the car at all.

I passed the chance for several media interviews because I believe it is was my job to serve the citizens of my county, not capitalize on their misfortunes.

Thanks for letting me give some facts on the true story.

Jerry... you deserve the kudos. Yes it is your job...I completely get that... but if not for you doing your job, many people would not be safe

Thank you :)

Debbie

P.S. - See ya real soon??!!

Deputy, congratulations on a job well done, and thank you for what you did and what you do every day.

To be fair, I don't see any evidence that "Disney will not pass the opportunity of good press and unfortunatly they are capitalizing on something here." The link in the OP doesn't work, but looking at this story in the the Sentinel:

I don't see anywhere that Disney was trying to get any publicity about this event.
