We are planning a family trip for March. There are a total of of 8 of us booking a grand villa at OKW. Everyone is planning on getting the dining plan. Heres my first question does everyone staying at the Grand villa need to be on the dining plan? Here the situation my wife recently had a gastric bypass, so she eats very little. So the dining plan would be a huge waste of money for her. If everyone does need to book it I was thinking of not listing her as someone staying at the resort (not like they would know that she is staying there and the villa sleeps 12 anyways) This brings up my second question, do we all need to be on the dining plan when we sit together at a Disney restaurant? She may still order something but it might be off the kids menu. Thank for any help

Yes everyone would have to get the DDP and as for not adding her on the reservation she would not be eligible for EMH . Every person staying in the room has to be on the reservation, its the rule.
You may want to have one of your party get an AP then you could get the TIW card and get 20% off all food and drinks. You may even qualify for a room discount. Could actually wind up saving money in the end.

Everyone listed as a guest in your room must be on the dining plan. If you don't list your wife on the reservation, she won't get a Key to the World card. Are you planning to do any EMHs? If so, she'll need a KTTW card to participate in that.

As for the dining reservation, DDP only matters when it comes to payment time. Some could use their points while others use cash. It makes no difference

Yes. Everyone registered in the room must have the same dining plan for the full length of the stay.

Register her AFTER you arrive. Then she will get a key card and no DDP. The problem that arises here is if you are arriving by air and you need Magical Express service from the airport. If she's not listed on the reservation you may have trouble.

No, you don't all need to be on the dining plan. You can have the checks split. But here's something you need to consider. How many fixed price meals are you planning on (buffets, character meals, all you can eat family style, dinner shows, etc.)? Because your wife will pay the full adult price at those, no matter how little she will be eating. If you are going to do a lot of meals like this, you may want to get her the dining plan anyway.

You should carefully consider whether the ddp is still a value for your party. It takes pretty indulgent eating to get any savings from the ddp.
But, in doing your math, remember that other adults could use your wife's credits. Thus, for example, if you are staying 7 nights.... So she would have 7 TS credits to disperse around. Meaning, that would be 1 extra TS meal for everyone else.

Excellent point!
