My DH, myself and our 4 kiddos ( 4,6,7,9) are going to disney during SWW. We all like Star Wars and have never been during SWW before. We went spring 2013 to HS but not epcot. We have never been to epcot. We know we want to do HS on Friday for SWW but can't decide if we should also do Thursday at HS or do epcot for the first time.

Do you have hoppers? If not, my idea of hell would be touring Epcot with young children - there are plenty of people who enjoy it, but we tried to spend an hour in the WS last year with kids ages 4-8-11, and they were miserable. Miserable! I can't stress enough how unhappy these boys were, we all suffered because of it. They enjoy TT and Soarin, and the little one liked Nemo and Turtle Talk, but that was it. There is no way we could spend a full day there!

HS, on the other hand, we spend multiple days in - my young son enjoys the street performances, so before he was tall enough for the rides, he loved watching them and doing Disney Jr stuff. Now that he's tall enough for some rides, he still loves the performances and the Disney Jr show. If you are doing SWW, that stuff is going to take up a lot of time so you might not be able to enjoy the regular HS attractions. So I say do 2 HS days, one for the regular stuff and one dedicated to SWW (with some FP rides if possible).

Normally I'd say 1 day HS and 1 day Epcot...

But if you're going to actually do the star wars stuff/shows/see the characters (there are several per day) and do the rides, I think you'll need 2 days to do it all.

Epcot is my very favorite park, but if I'm giving good advice, I would say that because of the age of your children you might want to do DHS both days. If you have PH then I would do a half day at Epcot's FW and do DHS after lunch. But do plan to someday tour all of Epcot. It really is awesome. A lot of fun at FW and the WS is absolutely lovely. Lots of great food in WS as well.

I am so grateful for this post and for the info! Have a 4- and a 6-year old Star Wars fans, and was struggling with whether half a day in Epcot and 2 days in HS (one normal and one Star Wars weekend day) would leave me wishing that we had spent more time in Epcot instead.

Thanks for the tips. We do not have park hopper. I don't think my kids will be into standing inline to meet the actors but they would like all the starwars characters. I know they would like JTA and some of the shows maybe.

Personally I'd choose 1 day at each park, especially since you've never gone to Epcot. If HS is super busy and you are not able to enjoy the rides properly, I guess 2 days would be a good idea. I'd go for 1 day at each park though.

Edit: I'm not sure if your children would enjoy Epcot as much as HS given their ages. Epcot is wonderful, but I'm not sure about kids' opinion on that park in particular.

DH and I have 4 kids as well and we always do Epcot. My kids don't really ride much but they love to eat the food in each of the countries. We get goodies from the WS and I think they're eating the whole way around! They never complain cuz there's so many cultural goodies for them to try. DH and I just love the atmosphere of Epcot so we always love to go atleast for a day.
