In the past there was the 2fer, or last year I think it was 2 days for $99. Anyone know if we can expect something similar in Jan? When is it usually announced? We already have a package booked, but my sis is a so cal resident and not a huge Disney fan, but I'm trying to convince her to come with us.

I think it is quite likely that deal will reappear. I think a couple year ago it was announced a day or two before the ticket were available. It was always right after Christmas Season guest traffic dropped. So it may be announce on the 3rd or 9th of Janurary.

Keep an ear out, I'm sure if it's announce the news will travel quickly.

There's no way to know for sure, but my husband read the opposite. He read that they are slowly pulling back on SoCal specials (and specials in general, like at Costco). He read that they are trying to control crowds (over time) by eliminating these discounts and raising AP prices. That's why AP prices have raised so many more times recently than they have in the past. They're slowly using these tactics to find the limit of what people will pay and to get some of the cheaper ticket people to stop renewing their passes. He read that they consider the "payment option" as the perk for so-cal residents now, instead of a 2fer discount. I don't remember the article or blog that my husband read this on, but I can ask him when he gets home tonight and post it for you to read. There really is no way to know though until they make their move and either release it or not release it. Good luck - hopefully we're wrong and they get the discount out for your sister! :thumbsup2

While there has been speculation about that, it doesn't mean it's true.

From a marketing perspective of mine. I think Disney will need the deals this Winter since there will be a lot of construction going on, and it's the slowest time of the year. While they offers SoCal specials in the Summers, I doubt there will be one this coming summer because of the huge demand that advertising and media will create for the new DCA and Carsland.

I know - as I said - no one will truly know until it happens or doesn't happen. Until they take action, everything is speculation. :)

As someone who has gone to DLR nearly every other weekend for several years though, I can say that I don't believe Disney needs the discounts to get people in the park for the winter season. I don't have their numbers or anything, but having been there so many times and comparing each year's crowds, it does not seem as slow this year as it has been in the past. In fact, it's seemed quite the opposite. Usually we would enjoy the first 2 weekends in December because they were lighter crowds, but that's not the case this year. Crowds were INSANE compared to usual, even in those first 2 weeks. And, even though there is construction at DCA, both parks seem to be busier than ever. I do agree with your take on the summer discounts though. I think that the opening of Carsland will draw in a LOT of people and discounts won't be offered. I guess we'll just have to wait and see! :rolleyes1 Like I said though, I hope I'm wrong and you're right. I hope the 2fer is brought back for those who need it!
