Ya'll this will be our 5th trip to Disney. MIL, FIL, SIL and BIL just told us Sunday they are not going with us. We leave Friday. This will be our first trip without an extra pair of hands. Our two oldest daughters are in wheelchairs. Neither can walk. We also have a 11 mth old. We have two options. Take both the older girls in their wheelchairs and the baby in her strap on carrier. Or take our oldest daughter in her wheelchair and the other two in a double stroller. We have APs so we can take our time but we are used to getting tons done during the day. What are your thoughts, ideas and advise? Thanks so much for your help!!!

I'm not sure what the ages and capabilities of your older daughters are. But is it possible for one of them to hold your youngest in thier lap? I'm a paraplegic and always carried my daughter in my lap when she was young. You could use a combination of this and the stap on carrier and it might work.

Either way have a great time on your trip. It's sad that the others are not going with you but I think you have the right attitude to go and have fun no matter what. :)

Bill, thank you so much for the idea. Our oldest daughter is not able to old the baby. Our youngest daughter is not able to either. Even if she could she would probably throw her out of her lap. Somewhat of a jealously problem there. LOL!!! She also has an amputation and does not like pressure on that leg because of the sensitivity. Thanks so much for helping us think of options.

I think a lot would depend on how comfortable your daughter would be if she is riding in the stroller rather than being in the wheelchair. If she is equally comfortable in both, I would vote for the double stroller and bring along the carrier for the baby also (since the baby would probably not awnt to be in one or the other all the time). If you do that, you can go to Guest Services and request a Guest Assistance Card that would allow you to use the double stroller as a wheelchair so you can bring it in the lines with you the same as a wheelchair. It should fit in the wheelchair accessible lines.
If the stroller would not be comfortable for your "riding" daughter for the whole day, then just bring the carrier for the 11 month old . You may find that this is a "stop and smell the roses" trip more than a "going on a lot of things" trip, but doing nothing at WDW is better than anyplace else.

How old are your girls? I have 2 DD's with spina bifida that can't stand or walk. My oldest is 13 and the youngest is 5. The oldest one has been pushing herself through the parks since she was 7 and the youngest has done most of the pushing since she was 3 1/2. Of course we don't move at any great pace because we too usually have annual passes so we take our time.

Any chance you can take a Grandparent with you? I think your going to need more help then just 2 of you if for nothing more then loading and unloading on rides. What about leaving the baby at home?

I don't have any experience to share but want to send some Pixie Dust for a great trip.

why not try a double jogging stroller? They are far more comfy than a reg double stroller and are more like a wheelchair. I work at a summer camp for physically disabled kids and almost all of the kids that need wheelchairs parttime, have joggling strollers. They are a bit expensive but there are places that you can rent them..Hope that helps

I just want to thank all of you for the wonderful suggestions.

Sue I was thinking that we would not be able to take the double stroller in the lines. That's a great idea about the guest assistance pass allowing us to do that. We have to get an assistance pass because some cast members do not realize dd is missing her leg and they think her wheelchair is a stroller.

Nanajo, thank you so much for the pixie dust!!! Boy did it work!!! We decided to carry the baby in the carrier and push the other two girls in their wheelchairs. We offered to treat several people to a weekend at the parks just for going and helping us out. No one could or wanted to go. Actually I think this worked out better. With us having annual passes we could come and go as we pleased. I am attaching a letter I wrote when we got back home. Remember this letter was written to friends and family. Some that have no clue about Disney. I would have written it different if I had been writing it to ya'll that know and love Disney like we do. It was truly one of the most magical trips we have ever had at Disney World. I was totally shocked at the crowds or lack of. Thanks again to everyone for their help. Ya'll are the greatest!!!

Well I can honestly say this was one again a magical trip to Disney World. The drive there was great. We checked in, got unpacked and rested a little before heading out. We went to Ft. Wilderness for the Chip and Dale sing along around the campfire. Chip and Dale were great and very sweet with the girls. We got pictures of course. We decided not to stay for the outdoor movie which was Princess Diaries. Instead of riding the bus back we walked. Mike said it was really a short walk. Yes, I believed him. It was not a short walk but it was a beautiful walk. We all enjoyed it.

The next morning we went to the Magic Kingdom. Mike had his hair cut at the Barber shop by Michal. A wonderful experience for all of us. The girls all got tons and tons of stickers. I got to take some great pictures of Mike and Michal. We were very surprised by the crowd or rather lack of. On our way to Toon Town we got to see Cinderella's show on the steps of the castle. In Toon Town we got to see Cinderella, Suzi, Pearl, Chip, Dale, Minnie, Pooh, Eeyore and Tigger. They were all wonderful. Next we took Mary Elizabeth on her favorite ride. Buzz Lightyear. She was having such a good time the guy let us ride a second time. Then we rode Peter Pan, Snow White and Pooh. Pooh takes a close second as being everyone's favorite.

We decided we would ride the monorail over to Epcot for lunch. We ate in Mexico. Our waiter and our food was exceptional. After lunch we went to Future World to hit some things we had not done in awhile. My favorite was the tour of the future home in Innoventions. I loved the tub with the TV made into it. To neat! However I don't think I will be getting one since it cost $28,000. My other favorite thing is a secret cause if I tell it will spoil someone's surprise. Michala loved the computer with the touch screens that were low enough for her to do on her own. Marlee Anne and I made some paper while Mike and Mary Elizabeth designed and grew a whole forest of trees. We decided to go tour some of the countries to see if we could see some of the other characters. I really wanted the girls to meet The Beast but I knew how hard it was to catch him out. I was telling Mike that when he said there he is. Well you know what a jokester Mike is so I said yeah right. He said no really there he is. He really was there. Standing all alone. When he saw us walking towards him he began walking to us. He was huge. I was so amazed. He bent over Mary Elizabeth and she fell in love. She gave him the most beautiful smile. He was the most loving character. He definitely portrayed the part very well. After spending lots of time with Mary Elizabeth he went to see Michala. Michala was in awe of his "paw". She touched it very softly and smiled at him. Marlee Anne would not take her eyes off him. We got some wonderful pictures with him. After telling him thank you and walking away, Mike said see there is magic happening all the time. He said all you have to do is think it and it happens. I am still amazed. Next we got to see The Genie from Aladdin. He was cute but I was still overwhelmed by The Beast and The Genie didn't take up as much time and interact with the girls. We went in a store to look for a shirt. As we walked in a cast member asked if we were having a good time. We told her yes. She said would you like to write home and tell someone. She explained that she had chosen us for a magical moment. We got to pick out a postcard, write it and they would mail it. They also gave us a certificate as a reminder of our magical moment. She also got Goofy to sing Happy Birthday over the phone to Mary Elizabeth. We went and picked our pictures up and headed back to the room.

The next day we started out at Animal Kingdom. We wanted to see if we could see Flik before the crowds got to bad. Once again the crowds were not bad at all. We saw Flik and got to see Pooh, Eeyore and Piglet. Pooh was amazing! He was a very good character. Next we went to Magic Kingdom to pick up our pictures and ride the train. While we were waiting for our pictures to be printed Snow White came up to see Mary Elizabeth. I know that my words will not be able to convey this very magical moment. Snow White talked with Mary Elizabeth and gave each of the girls beautiful kisses which we left on them all day. She came up to hug me and gave me a "true" hug. You know the kind I mean? The one where it's a real hug. I started crying and she did too. She was the most loving character I had ever met. A cast member came up to see if she could take a family picture for us. As I handed her our camera Snow White was searching for the perfect place for our picture to be taken. After our picture she said I hope that you have a magical day. I told her she had already made it magical. It was truly magical! We went from there to Epcot for lunch. We had fish and chips from the United Kingdom. My favorite! After lunch we spent the rest of the day at MGM. We had our picture made with Sorcerer Mickey. He was very good. As we were leaving there we saw Minnie with no one around her. Again perfect timing. She was very sweet. Minnie knelt beside Michala to hug her and Michala kissed her nose. We were waiting for the Animated tour to start and met four of the most wonderful teenagers from South Africa. They were with a dance team that was there. We got a picture with them and one of the girls gave Mary Elizabeth, Michala and Marlee Anne each a beautiful beaded doll from South Africa. We did a few more things there that we had never done before heading to Downtown Disney. We only stayed at Downtown Disney for a little while and then went back to the room. It was a wonderful day.

The next morning we went to Celebration which is a planned community built by Disney. We had heard many wonderful things about it. It was amazing! I have pictures to share but they do not do it justice. The houses and yards are beautiful. The Market Street has the neatest little stores, coffee shop, theater, restaurants and their own grocery store. They have a park and golf course. There are different kinds of dwellings to chose from. House, apartments, townhouses and probably more. There were lots of electric cars there too. They have a lake or water area with a beach. A pool in the park and also a lot of the homes have their own pools. It was beautiful. I would like to go back again when we have time to really take time to visit. We just drove through.

I got to go by Scrapbook Headquarters. I don't think I will go there again unless we are just in the area. It cost $2.50 in tolls to get there. I did enjoy the Memories scrapbook store in Orlando though. It was very nice and had lots of different Disney items that I was hoping to find.

Our trip home was nice. Everyone was getting very tired about the last two hours. It was a magical trip that I will never forget.

I have to say I got shivers reading your wonderful report. I'm happy to see that your family had such a great time :) !

Thanks for letting us know about your trip. I had a tear in my eye more than once. I'm so happy you had so many magical moments. Continued PD to your remarkable family.

Thanks for letting us know how your trip went. Sounds like lots of fun. I always mean to write a nice report, but somehow reality gets in the way when I get back from WDW.
About a double stroller in lines - I had not thought it would work, and some lines might be too narrow, but someone had written that they got a GAC to use a double stroller as a wheelchair and we actually saw someone using one on our last trip.
