I want to book 2 nights just resort without the free dining and tickets because we are doing Universal. Then book the free dining special after that .Has anyone had success making two consecutive reservations and not having to change rooms?

It's not guaranteed, but I think most people are pretty successful in not having to move (although there have been instances where that wasn't the case). With that said, as long as you book the same room type for both reservations, you can have the 2 reservation linked and put a request to keep the same room. When you check in for the first reservation, tell the CM you have a continuing reservation and would like to keep the same room if possible. The CM will do everything he/she can to avoid you changing rooms, but keep in mind that it is possible you will have to move. Good luck.

I have booked for several people and they've never had a problem. Make sure it's the same room type and that you call Disney to confirm the continuing reservation. When you check in, reconfirm that they are aware of it. It's never a guarantee, but it's not often a problem!

What is the advantage to that? You will still be getting tickets for the second reservation anyway, why not just get the free dining and have those credits? You can still get the tickets for the number of days you want to do the Disney parks either way.

I would say they plan on eating at US so they want the room discount over rack rate.
