My boys love legos...and I have a love hate relationship with them! I love that they build and use their imagination, but I hate when I step on those little things or when they are scattered all over the room and not taken care of. I think the boys will enjoy seeing all the sculptures made of legos and taking some time to build things (if I give them time :lmao:). I am not sure if they will actually purchase anything...there is another store in DTD that I think will get their $$$ (to be highlighted later)!

Thursday's Trivia:
Verna Felton was the voice of a character in 5 Disney Films. What were the films and the characters?

Wednesday's Question:
What song, from what Disney film, was considered to be Walt's favorite? Who sang the song?

Feed the Birds- From Marry Poppins. Mary Poppins sang it.
:banana::banana::banana:

YAY I get first! I have to catch up in points....

"Feed the Birds" is a song written by the Sherman Brothers (Richard M. Sherman & Robert B. Sherman) and featured in the 1964 motion picture Mary Poppins. It is reputed to have been Walt Disney's favorite song.
The song speaks of an old beggar woman (portrayed by actress Jane Darwell) who sits on the steps of Saint Paul's Cathedral, selling bags of breadcrumbs to passers-by for tuppence a bag, so that the passers-by can feed the many pigeons who surround the old woman. (The scene is reminiscent of the real-life seed sellers in Trafalgar Square.)
In 2005, Julie Andrews selected the song as part of the album "Julie Andrews Selects Her Favorite Disney Songs".

For a movie night activity you can do sidewalk paintings with chalk (odvious), you can have a tea party for the food and drinks (little sandwiches, petti fours, and "tea" (iced tea in tea cups). For dessert if you didn't do the sidewalk chalk you could give each child a small square cake piece and have them make pictures on it with icing! Another activity is to have a chimney sweep race (use a broom to sweep a room and see who gets done first)!

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Oh man I was typing too much and someone else took it:sad2: I have to try harder!
:rotfl:

I saw on fb what you did. :woohoo:

And shoot...I am gonna lose my slight lead. I missed the question. :scratchin" how bout a the video of Mary singing so I don't fall tooo far behind. ;)

and the lyrics

Feed the Birds

Performed by: Mary Poppins (Julie Andrews)
Written by: Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman
Early each day to the steps of Saint Paul's
The little old bird woman comes.
In her own special way to the people she calls,
"Come, buy my bags full of crumbs.

Come feed the little birds, show them you care
And you'll be glad if you do.
Their young ones are hungry,
Their nests are so bare;
All it takes is tuppence from you."

Feed the birds, tuppence a bag,
Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag.
"Feed the birds," that's what she cries,
While overhead, her birds fill the skies.

All around the cathedral the saints and apostles
Look down as she sells her wares.
Although you can't see it, you know they are smiling
Each time someone shows that he cares.

Though her words are simple and few,
Listen, listen, she's calling to you:
"Feed the birds, tuppence a bag,
Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag."
:banana::banana:

And just so that everyone understands the lyrics.... Tuppence=
Noun 1. tuppence - a former United Kingdom silver coin; United Kingdom bronze decimal coin worth two pennies
twopence
coin - a flat metal piece (usually a disc) used as money
 plus and extra :banana: for making me and Ann laugh

Thursday's Trivia:
Verna Felton was the voice of a character in 5 Disney Films. What were the films and the characters?

Dumbo...Matriarch (Elephant), Cinderella...Fairy Godmother, Alice in Wonderland...Queen of Hearts, Lady and the Tramp...Aunt Sarah, Sleeping Beauty...Flora

I had to look this one up. :rolleyes1

She was actually in Jungle Book as well. She was Colonel Hardee's elephant "wife". Verna Felton had extensive experience on the stage and in radio before she broke into film and television. Her trademarks was her distinctive husky voice and her no-nonsense attitude. She was quite in demand for voiceover work.

She also starred in some I Love Lucy episodes and had a role in Oklahoma!

An important part of her career was doing voice work for Disney. She died on December 14, 1966, the day before Walt Disney passed away.

Thought I would share the view from my office window today...sure makes it feel like Christmas!

We were only supposed to get a dusting...hmmm still snowing with about 4 inches on the ground...manna from above during this drought!

 That is a lot of snow. Is it normal for you to get snow?

So what did I do? I went ahead and officially booked (and paid) for our "1 more day"...so the night of Jan. 6 we will be staying at POP. I booked 2 adjoining rooms!

Then I went ahead and paid off my balance for the Universal portion of our trip.

So all we have left to pay for is WDW tickets (which I will purchase with this month's pay check) and dining plan (which I have the $$ for just waiting for my DVC member I rented from to be available for a 3 way call to Disney). Dave Ramsey says cash only and it looks like we are going to be able to pull off this trip paid in full without using the credit cards...:yay::yay::yay: I have already bought all the new clothes for the kids along with the advent reveal gifts as the year has passed...their Santa present of gift cards are already bought along with all the travel/stocking stuffers...so I really do not have anymore expenses for them as a result of the trip. My bonus check for all the extra training I have been doing for the school district will come in my December check so that will cover all the dining at Universal, transportation costs, and some extras....:woohoo: Feels great not to go in debt over this trip and January will be happy when there are no statements from credit card companies to deal with!

:banana:YAY we are going without credit cards too! That feels good!

That is exactly what I thought too Ann....:rotfl2: I could just imagine Heather's voice in my mind proudly topping your answer! Have figured out a fun little gift for playing my game...plan to make them over Thanksgiving and get them sent before y'all leave for your trips or as a surprise when you get back!

:lmao:Just so you know I read this quickly this morning while getting DH ready for work (I know he's a grown man and still needs a nanny?), I laughed so hard and tried to explain the story to him, all he said was "Does she know you talk like a mix of Minnie mouse and Jessie from Toy story in fast forward?" -he thinks I talk too fast with a high pitched southern accent! He'll never get the joke!

That was a lot of snow!!!! Do you usually get snow?

Sorry I missed today's question and lots of people posted on it already.... tomorrow I will try to get it again!

That is crazy. It is only October. That is some dusting. :rotfl:

 That is a lot of snow. Is it normal for you to get snow?

That was a lot of snow!!!! Do you usually get snow?

You have to remember that Texas is a HUGE state...I am actually closer to Denver than I am Dallas if you draw a line straight west of Oklahoma City and straight east from Albquequre you get Amarillo (actually that is called I-40 and we are dead inbetween this 2 places)...I am in the Panhandle which is the top of the state. On average we get about 20 inches of snow a year. So while this is a bit early, it is not unusal...

:banana:YAY we are going without credit cards too! That feels good!

Feels great thinking about it that way!!!:woohoo:

You read things to your dh too from DIS and he does not get it? We are too much alike! I laughed so hard last night when I saw your clarification on the lyrics and dh just gave me a weird look! :rotfl:

Sorry I missed today's question and lots of people posted on it already.... tomorrow I will try to get it again!

I am sure there are things you could do with the information...

My AK plans are driving me crazy...is Rafki's Planet Watch worth 1 hour or time? Does it take that long?

BRRRRRRRRR!!! Your snow pictures make me cold. I won't complain about our rain today.

Rafiki's Planet Watch is a nice place to go. The wait for the train frustrates me sometimes. We've already spent more time waiting on trains than we did there looking around.

It is one of the few places where you can pose with Jimeny Cricket.

It's neat to see CM at work with the animals behind glass windows.

The petting farm is skippable.

I was going to say almost exactly all the same things that lovethattink said. I do think it is not to miss... so if you have never done it..then yes, you should do it.

Ridemax will try and schedule more time than you may need. There is a kid station there that can take up some time. (we will be skipping it this year) However, your youngest might like it?

Yup, I agree...train takes up a good chunk of the "allotted time".

However, where else are you going to see Jimeney Cricket? Also there are usually a couple others up there.

I hate the petting zoo. If it is hot, it is dusty. If it is wet, it is muddy. The amimals hate to be bothered and lots of little ones fighting over brushes just kinda gets to me.

However, the stage between the building and the farm is kinda cool if you manage to be there during a demonstration. dd was picked one year to help "train" an animal. Now that alone was reason to make it up there. It was such a great memory!

And the animal hospital/clinic is kinda neat to see. (especially if you have a kid who aspires to enter into a field that deals with animals) However, it is a bit disappointing if you are there when a large crowd is since it will be hard for you (and especially your smallest) to see anything going on.

ITA!! I really liked Rafiki's. Seeing them interact with the animals in the vet area and they usually have some sort of animal out for kids to interact with like an iguana or something of that sort. I didn't see Jiminy there but I've only been once.

Tammie - I thought about you yesterday when I saw the snow storm on the newscast. BRRRR is all I can say and I hope it stays north and west of us at least until we finish up football season! :rotfl: ALMOST THERE!

Now I need to go catch up with the part of your PTR I've missed this week! :thumbsup2

Strawberry Parfait....oh my!!!

DSCN5261.jpg

Red Velvet...probably will pass on this one, I don't like cream cheese frosting...I prefer the very traditional butter icing...

Okay, I suffer from wanting to try EVERYTHING that WDW has to offer in food! Well most everything...last year when I went to CA Grill there was not much on the menu that called my name, but the fireworks were amazing from there...kind of like Mama Melrose and my issues with the F! package this year.

I am excited to have a taste of the cupcakes I have been hearing and seeing pictures of for the last year...I know that I will never be able to eat one by myself...but dh and the boys all love sweets so I am sure we will all share a couple...but Ab will probably just go for a water!
