2 Br sleeps how many?

I have a question. How many does a 2 Br actually sleep? Does the sofa in the "living room" pull out?

In the SSR room pictures, it looks like the second bedroom is a queen and a sleep sofa (studio config). In the dedicated 2 Br is it the same or is it actually 2 queen beds?

Finally, how do you go about reserving a dedicated 2 Br vs a studio + 1 br combo. Can you request a dedicated 2 Br when you make your reservation (and get it?)

Thanks...we just signed the contract for SSR and a planning on going in Nov. I wanted to know if there would be enough room for my neice and nephew to come with us.

the ones at OKW sleep 8. 4 in the studio, 2 on the pull-out couch and 2 in the master bedroom.

All DVC 2-BR sleep 8.
However, there are a variety of configurations depending on the resort. At OKW for example there are two kinds of 2-BR. One is a lock-off (studio and 1-BR combined) the other is a dedicated 2-BR, in both cases the second bedroom will have two queen beds since all OKW studios have two queen beds. At other resorts (like BC) there are some dedicated 2-BR with two queen beds and some dedicated 2-BR with a sofa sleeper. there are also lock-off 2-BR at BC with the sofa sleeper combination.

In all cases the sofa in the living room pulls out the create the extra sleeping space required to accomodate the 7th and 8th individual(s).

I'm sorry that I'm not familiar enough with SSR to speak to the question of whether or not dedicated 2-Br with two queens in the second bedroom can be guaranted at reservation time, or if that configuration even exisits.

I do know that this scenario is possible at BC.

SSR does offer dedicated 2BR villas. You can request that when you reserve. (Requests are not guaranteed, but they will try to accommodate).

All dedicated SSR 2BR villas will have 2 queens in the 2nd BR and the living room couch does open into a queen bed.

All lock-offs at BCV, VWL and BWV (also VB and HH) will have 1 queen and 1 sleep sofa in the 2nd bedroom. (BWV has no dedicated 2 BR villas.)

BCV is the only DVC resort where some of the dedicated 2BR villas have the 1 queen/sleep sofa combination. All others have 2 queens in the 2nd BR of the dedicated 2BR villas.

Enjoy!

Doc, I think the 2 BR dedicated units are actually a solid reservation rather than just a request, at least at BCV and VWL. I'd assume so at SSR as well.

As for as sleeping capacity, while it's 8 for all 2 BR, none sleep 8 comfortably though OKW comes the closest.

Also, for BWV, the sleep sofa in the studios (and thus the second bedroom of the 2 bedroom units) is a double, not a queen. The sleep sofa in the living room is a queen.

AFAIK, all of the sleep sofas at BCV are queen size. I do not know the configuarations at VWL.

All 2 BR units have a King in the master and a pull out in the LR. The second BR is where the issue lies. Here are the various confirgurations.
  • OKW - 2 queens
  • BWV - 1 queen plus a love seat pullout
  • VWL - dedicated with 2 queens, the lockoff's same as BWV.
  • VB - I know they have units same as BWV but not sure if they have any dedicated unit that are different.
  • HH - I think the dedicated are all 2 queens.
  • BCV - lockoff's same as BWV. Dedicated are one third with 2 queens and two thirds with a queen and pullout queen.
  • SSR, I think will be the same as VWL as BCV was supposed to be.

Sleeping 8 comfortably also depends upon what your "8" is comprised of. In our case, we always have 8, but half of our group are under 5 feet tall (i.e., kids, not vertically challenged adults). That makes a considerable difference, because kids don't place as much mass across a sleeper sofa, and kids, after all, think it's fun to sleep on a rock-hard floor, so a sleeper sofa is cool livin' to them. An adult may have more of an Elaine Bennis "That $#&**@#$!! Bar Is IN MY BACK!" attitude if forced to spend too much time on a sleeper sofa.

I'm intrigued about one sleeper sofa comment made in this thread, however -- is it true that BWV sleepers in the 2nd BR are doubles, but BCV sleepers in the 2nd BR are queens?

All sleeper sofa's in the LR are queens. All sleepers sofa's in the second BR are double's except for about 50 DEDICATED 2 BR units at BCV.

Why would booking a 2 bedroom dedicated be different at SSR from other DVC resorts?

At the other resorts it's a "booking" not a request just as the 2 bedroom dedicated with 2 queen beds is at the Beach Club.

Having just returned from BCV I can give you a first hand account of what happens when you initially request a Dedicated 2 Bedroom Villa with 2 Queen Beds. We did just that. Unfortunately we never scrutinized our confirmation letter which did not list the "2 Queen beds" portion. (Our mistake for not looking at it) Because of this we were initially given a dedicated 2 bedroom with only one queen bed. The staff at the front desk were wonderful about tracking down another room for us for the rest of our stay - but it was an inconvenience to move. No matter where you are staying - we were told to have the "2 Queen Beds" part on your reservation. This helps them reserve the correct room. That comes straight from the front desk staff at BCV.

It is a direct booking and not a request. You can book a 2 BR dedicated 2Q, dedicated 2 BR or a lockoff.
