2 BR room villa size at BWV - confusion

Was hoping to get some first hander experience to clarify this. I see on the official disney vacation club site that the rooms at BWV (I'm specifically looking at the 2 BR units) are stated as being about 1,280 sq ft.

However, I have found multiple DVC-related sites that in their resort overviews are showing the rooms at around 1,080 sq feet. One even mentioned that they were basically the exact same as BCV except for furnishing and stuff. Disney does show BCV to also be in the 1,080 range.

Now obiviously I give the most credibility to the official website and the maint fees do seem to support the idea that the room sizes are large at BWV but I thought I would ask about this. Is there an explanation for the different reported room sizes. Are there two sizes of 2BR units? I was thinking about dedicated 2 BR vs. Lockout units, etc.???

Thanks.

I also have noticed varying lists of villa sizes and wondered which is really correct. BWV has no dedicated 2 bedrooms. They are all lock-offs.

Never actually thought about since I am in awe of the BW View when there! :cool1:

I would say that the difference in 2BR room size between BWV, VWL, BCV and SSR are negligible. I've been in each of them and while there might be some square footage differences, for all practical purposes they are the same.

I don't think that there is any specific reason for the varying room size listings. Like I said...other than OKW the other on-site 2BRs are pretty much the same, with some slight configuration modifications.

BW are larger than BC.

I know there is a lot of conflicting information around, but as DVC built each new resort, the villa sizes have become progressively smaller. OKW are the largest, followed by BW. I am not sure whether VWL or BCV are larger, but I know the sizes are slightly different.

My understanding is that SSR are the smallest. I am not sure where HHI or VB fit into the mix, because I never paid that much attention to the room sizes.

Now the difference may not be that drastic (just a few feet off) but if you compare some floor plans (particularly in the older books) you will see that BC has a little less space in the living area than BW.

The layouts of BWV, BCV, VWL and SSR are all virtually identical. Short of walking directly from one room to the next to the next (which is impossible), I seriously doubt that even the most well-travelled DVC members could really explain where one room is larger than the next.

I think the 1,280 figure for BWV is either incorrect or it's a measurement of an odd-sized unit rather than the norm. There's no way that the typical BWV room is 200 sq ft larger than the others. That would be an area 10' x 20' (or equivalent) and the BWV rooms just don't have that much extra square footage.

I wonder if someone is adding in the square footage of the balcony.
I think it was Richyams who told me that would only add about 2 sq ft to the total! :teeth:

someone thinking they could add up the dedicated (bigger rooms) and it would be the same.

trust the 1,071 - those are the lock out.

but you would think that Disney would get the figures right - but in this case they are wrong.

All at WDW other than OKW are in the 1070 to 1080 range for the 2 BR. Much of the difference is in the kitchen and dining rooms areas with minor differences in the LR and BR compared to OKW.

:rotfl: :rotfl: Yeah, my guess is that he told ya that as he was sitting on the balcony and reaching for a beer from the kitchen fridge!

Good feelgood memories, Granny.

SSR seemed a bit smaller than BWV when we stayed there. According to the U-Guide, the sq. footage is smaller. Also, the two bedroom at SSR only had two balconies, when BWV had three balconies. It wasn't a big difference, but we did notice it. :)

Hi people,
Forgive my newness, but I once had a job as a cost accountant, and I want to know, as a member, why does the exact square footage matter?
I am obviously a Boardwalk regular.
There could be an extra foot lengthwise or width wise, or both and it would not feel different to the average person. Or the size of the shower or an extra foot in the kitchen? Utility sizes, as in ducts or plumbing or entry closet? How wide is the living room? Dishwasher and cabinet depth? Wasted space in the bathroom... long walk from the light switch to the toilet? You could go from one foot all around to three or four feet of wasted space here or there... times 4 or 5 actual rooms...
But I must agree with a prior poster that OKW feels more like an apartment complex than a hotel room... even though the extra space may be the extra bedroom, which just happens to hold the washer and dryer... I tried to talk my niece into letting her baby sleep there, but she wouldn't go for it. What the heck, he would fit right in to the wash... dry.... fluff.... and fold thing... It was mostly his mess anyway. Whatever.

I don't think anyone's debating a couple sq ft here and there. As the OP pointed out, Disney's "official" measurements show that BWV is almost 20% larger than the other resorts. That's not an insignificant number. The question was a fair one.

But as stated, I don't believe the figure is accurate.
