We've been to WDW many times and stayed onsite and offsite in rental homes. We're a family of 5 and I want to try an offsite condo. I'm confused at the many choices and timeshares! We are not interested in purchasing but it looks like they are open to public reservations. Is this without sitting through sales pitches? We definitely do not want to do that.

Can you guys help me find the best fit? We have 3 children, ages 5, 7 and 11. We want to be convenient to Disney and not in a place so big that a walk to the pool takes 15 minutes. Is room service an option at these locations? At a minimum, we need restaurant options on site. We spend a lot of time in the pool and the bigger the slide, the better. Towel, trash service daily would be optimal as well. If you have any input, I would appreciate it!

We sound somewhat similar (except that we've never stayed onsite - always stayed in houses). This time we're going in December, and I didn't want to pay for pool heat (and it possibly turn off too cool to really enjoy the pool). I also wanted to be conveniently located so DD19 and her BF23 could more easily go on their own (he hasn't been before and I didn't want him to have to worry about getting around).

We settled on a 2 bedroom at Cypress Pointe Grande Villas because it is centrally located in Lake Buena Vista. The pool has slides and a volcano. We haven't stayed yet, but the map doesn't look like it's too big. It's actually Phase II. The "kids" can go to Downtown Disney very easily for dancing at Pleasure Island or to eat at numerous nice restaurants.

Cypress Pointe Phase I has just been renovated, but we liked CPGV better, because it has elevators. Another difference is in the bedding in the two bedroom units. CP has a twin with a trundle in the second bedroom, but CPGV actually has two twins (at least that is my understanding). In our case, DD will have the extra bedroom, and her BF will sleep on the couch, so it won't matter to us, but it might to you with 3 children.

My other option was Windsor Hills, but it was further from Downtown Disney than I really wanted on this trip. I also got an excellent deal on ebay for CPGV, so that settled it for us.

Good luck!

timeshares because they come with a kitchen don't generally have restuarants.

now the bigger ones do have restuarants.

so do you want small one w/o restuarants.

or a larger one with restuarants?

Cypress Pointe is a good choice - has a nice slide (not outstanding) - you can walk to the local restuarants.

Sheraton Vistana Resort has several restuarants and several pools - but it is definitely big.

the Marriotts - several in the area - have restuarants - but they aren't as much a part of the resort as the golf course. So harder to get too.

sbclifton - Thanks for the info! Who did you book through for CPGV?

spiceycat - I'll take restaurants/larger over no restaurants! My kitchen during vacation typically just houses beverages, pb&j, cereal, fruit and yogurt!

There are several listings for Cypress Pointe on ebay right now (I just did a quick check). The prices that are showing up are comparable to what we're paying.

My rental info is at home, so I can't give it to you right now, but I'll try to remember to get it tomorrow (DD is "crowning" at the Fairest of the Fair tonight since she was last year's "Fairest" - so we'll be tied up this afternoon/evening). Since we don't actually stay until December, I can't give an actual recommendation for this owner yet, but I can give you the info. After December, I'll be happy to recommend her if it works out. We paid using a credit card for additional security.

I'm not sure about a restaurant (maybe a Pizza Hut). I think it's very close to other restaurants (as long as you have a car). It's about a mile from Downtown Disney.
