Is it possible to do this? Say I want to book a studio for 2 weeks for me and my partner and another studio for the first 5 days of that same time period for some friends, can I do this? Assuming I have enough points and its at the same resort etc?

I know I could just book a 1 or 2 bed villa for the first 5 days and then a studio for the remainder of the 2 weeks, but I was just curious, because in some instances for us and our friends, separate accommodations may be easier.

yes.

I currently have a 1BR BWV, a BWV studio, and RIV studio for the same two days b/c I'm not sure which I'm going to keep right now. And all three are in my name, so you don't have to switch the reservation holder name either.

Perfect, thanks :)

It’s never happened to me, but I have heard that they sometimes cancel duplicate bookings with the same lead guest.

OP, as long as different people are in there, you’re fine. I’ve heard they are just weird about the lead guest being the same. I currently have a 2BR for us and 2x studios for 2 different sets of friends at RIV booked for the same dates in October. No issues.

MS has told me this as well...that if the lead guest is the same on both they will cancel one. For me they switched the lead guest on my second booking so it wouldn't be cancelled.

I suppose it's possible if they are truly duplicate bookings (i.e., two or three standard view BWV studios)...but with mine being different room/views and/or hotels, I don't see them canceling one.

*ETA -- of course OP's circumstances are more in line with your suggestion -- so probably best for him/her to follow your advice.

They told me the other night when I had a BLT 1BR booked and a BWV 1BR booked for some of the same dates with me as a lead guest to change it soon because one may get cancelled with the same lead guest on multiple rooms on the same nights. Just wanted to warn you. I don’t know if they would actually do this, but that’s what the CM said.

that's interesting -- not sure why they would do that. If I have the points and want to have two different rooms, I should be allowed to. I could easily see someone wanting an epcot and MK resort depending on their circumstances. I know I read about someone on here that liked doing split stays, but didn't want to be homeless from 11 am to 4 pm, so they would overlap at least one of the days so that their room was ready for them the afternoon before they needed it.

I could see issues with magic bands opening up the rooms -- but that can be fixed by getting a hotel key from the front desk.

Yes you can have two bookings with your points but the second room would have to have a different lead name on the reservation. I have two poly studios booked with my points but one is in my name and my in laws on the other.

I have definitely out rooms for similar dates with both myself and with other names,

Most often, when I have held duplicate nights, the one night was part of another reservation and it made sense to do it that way for waitlist purposes.

I have 3 bookings for Oct and will use all but I was told to put a different lead on each room. Anyone that doesn't do this should not be upset if one gets cancelled. You never know how MS works.

Note that you can only book one room at a time on the website. So if you're trying to book a highly sought-after room, particularly at 7 months, you need to move fast. Otherwise, by the time you finish one reservation there may not be a second room left.
