I'm feeling a little nuts because I just reserved a two bedroom villa at the Beach Club for our August trip, simply so my then 2 year old daughter will have her own room. Seems so silly for such a tiny kid to have basically a studio for herself!

The last few times when we've been to WDW, we've gotten a 1 bedroom and Lillian has slept in a pack-n-play in the closet with a white noise machine on. I know..it sounds horrible, but she has never been a baby who will sleep through the night if we share a bed, or even a room. If she hears us moving around, she's up, ready to play and it takes hours to get her back down again.
Having her sleep in the closet at least gives her some separation from us and with the door closed, she doesn't see us in the bedroom. She sleeps really soundly there and we haven't had an issue with her waking up at night.

I've only stayed at the Beach Club once, but I don't remember there being a closet in the one bedroom that is big enough for a pack-n-play. Am I incorrect? She's a small kid, so I know she'll still fit in a pnp and if we keep the two bedroom, we'll put her in a pnp there and have a video monitor to keep an eye on her.

I donno why this is bugging me so much, maybe because we're traveling with my brother, sis-in-law and their 7 & 11 year old daughters, who are getting a 1 bedroom with the girls sleeping on the pull out couch. Seems so silly to spend the points on a two bedroom, just so a toddler can have their own room.

Is there a reason why she can't sleep in the living area where the foldout couch is? Do you put her to bed and then want living area for yourselves?

If you can't really let her sleep in the living area, then I say go with your plan. If the extra expense is worth it to you...

We've tried putting her down in the living room, but then we can't use the fridge/kitchen or leave the villa because she wakes up.

The whole extra expense and if it's worth it, is the uncertainty is all about.

Wow, I dream of the day my toddler can have her own room. No matter where I lay her down, she will wake up and creep into my bed two hours later.
Thank goodness for King sized beds in the Master!

OP, I completely understand. When my now 13 year old son was that age, there was no way he would be able to sleep in the living room area of a one bedroom. The moment anyone walked into any room he was sleeping in, he would wake up and be ready to par-tay! If you can spare the points for a two bedroom, then say go for it. Your daughter will sleep the night, get good naps and everyone will have a happy vacation. :thumbsup2

On a side note, the above said 13 year now would sleep till noon on the weekends if I let him and there is no noise known to man loud enough to wake him!

OMG..thank you for giving me hope! I feel like I"m the only parent with a toddler who doesn't sleep through noise or activity. My brother's kids would sleep through us watching MK fireworks when they were 2 years old!

If you have the money/points, who are any of us to judge? We all bought into DVC to enjoy vacationing more. If this is what does it for your family, enjoy yourselves.

If you have the points- go for it! :thumbsup2

We stayed in a studio at SSR for our last trip and I was sooo wishing we were in a 1 or 2 bedroom so DS could have his own space. My son also doesn't sleep well when there is any noise or other people awake. It was such a disaster during our last trip, he slept so poorly so we hardly slept and it took a real toll on our vacation.

Use the points and enjoying having a trip where everyone gets a good night sleep!:cloud9:

No, you are definitely not alone. Our youngest was terrible... thank goodness she is now past that.

We have always put our 2 year old down in the master bedroom in the pack and play, hung out in the living room with the kitchen and having the door for one of us to run out if we wanted to, and then when we were ready for bed, we just scooted the kiddo into the living room and settled him back to sleep. Maybe that is something you could do? Otherwise, go for the two bedroom! Might as well if you can.

We've done 2 bedroom villas for our family of 6.. DH and I in 1 room with DS (infant), DD (4) in living area, and DD (11) and DS (13) in other bedroom. We have also stayed at the Polynesian with just the youngest two in one room... we would have LOVED a One bedroom villa there, DD4 and DS1 wouldn't sleep if we were up and about but we stayed on the balcony when they were asleep and in a 1 bedroom villa we would've stayed in our bedroom. They would be fine in the living room.

You are not alone. We always look for separate sleeping arrangements for our boy. He likes to stay up if he knows we are in the room.

Thanks for the reassurance. I think I'll stick with the two bedroom. It's only 80 more pts for a week of better sleep for everyone.

My 2 yr old is the same way. We bought a white noise machine for her when she was 9 mths old and it's in her room because she can even hear us walking by her door at night if the floor creaks (the kid has impeccable hearing). So, we bring it on vacation also (I've actually gotten used to the sound now, and even have one of my own haha) and she sleeps in pack and play. She only woke up once last trip. Our 5 yr old sleeps in bed with us in a 1BR. I am just a paranoid parent who is paranoid about leaving children in the living room in a hotel so I never do that. So, I totally get that you would want a separate room, and like others have said, if you can spare the points, go for it!

I can laugh at this one! We are known for sticking our kids in closets :) The first time was when people were here for my baby shower for my 2nd and we put our first in our closet in our bedroom! It's a big closet.... Then at the All-Star, DH made a fort in the 'closet' using a comforter and her pack-n-play. This year she had outgrown the pack-n-play so we took a small (3/4 length) backpacking mattress and put her in the closet of our studio at SSR! Course the girls both loved it and we couldn't get either one out :) We also moved the couch and put the pack-n-play behind it in the corner for the youngest.

We personally wouldn't spend the extra points so that one of the girls can have their own room, but go with what makes you comfortable :)
