2-Bedroom Villas

I was wondering what the occupancy of the 2-bedroom villas are? It says up to 8 adults. What I was wondering is could we potentially book, availability depending, 6 adults and 4 children if the children include a 2 year old and an infant? I'm considering renting points but when playing around on the WDW website it wasn't giving me the option to purchase but it only says "This resort is unavailable due to dates, party size or offer selected." I wish it would say a little more specifically!

It depends on the resort; some resorts' two-bedrooms sleep 8 plus one child under 3 years of age, for others it's 9 plus one under 3.

I know AKV/Kidani Village, BLT and VGF's two-bedrooms sleep nine, and I'm sure there are others, but I can't think of them off the top of my head.

Oh, and to answer your question, your party would not be able to book a 2-bedroom villa that sleeps 8. You've got 8 adults plus two children under there. The occupant rules only allow one additional child under three.

The 2 BR villa at Old Key West will sleep nine adults. And they have been adding a Murphy bed to some of the other DVC resorts like BCV ans VWL when they remodel them.

I believe the Murphy beds are only being added to the studios, not the 1 or 2 bedroom units. That is the case at BCV & BWV's.

All 2-bedroom units at BWV consist of a studio and a 1-bedroom unit. There are no dedicated 2-bedroom units there. So, once all of the studio upgrades have been completed (if they haven't already), then each BWV 2-bedroom unit will sleep 9.

Thanks for the clarification.

Actually, they already did -- a BWV 1BR slept 5, and a BWV Studio slept 4. The issue is that the 1BR provided no bedding (or bed!) for number 5.

So my understanding is that BWV sleeping 9 will not change. It is now just the case that in a 2BR, there are legitimately sleep surfaces (and bedding) for 9.

Yes, I believe that was nearly always the case for DVC members and their guests who were staying on points. Those who paid cash to Disney for a 2-bedroom unit were limited to the number people who could fit in the beds, so 8 was the maximum occupancy for them. With the table/bed in the studio portion of the unit, even cash-paying guests can book 9 people in a 2-bedroom at BWV.

Thank you! Trying to figure out how many we could legitimately fit in these 2-bedrooms I didn't realize it was different from one resort to another!

in the DVC (deluxe villas) resorts:
  • AKV: 9
  • Bay Lake Tower: 9
  • Beach Club Villas: 8 or 9 (dedicated sleep 8, lock-offs 9)
  • Boardwalk: 9
  • Grand Floridian: 9
  • Old Key West: 9
  • Wilderness Lodge: 8
  • Saratoga: 8 (2BR), 9 (Treehouse Villa)
  • Poly Bungalow: 8
To those numbers, you can always add one child under 3 in a pack and play. Any additional children under 3 count to occupancy. So to sleep 6 adults, and 4 children, with 2 under age 3, you would need a 2BR that natively sleeps 9.

Grand Villas sleep 12. There is a limited inventory of these, though, and often they need to be booked promptly at 11 months depending on dates.

Certain resorts have non-DVC $uites that sleep larger numbers of people. I am not familiar with those.

Wilderness Lodge would be like BCV - dedicated 8, lock off 9. And GFV could be 10 for lockoff (both studio and one bedroom have the murphy bed). AKV - Value would be 8.

When you book them online (non-DVC) directly through Disney, it tells you the occupancy. Just go by that number plus one "infant" under 3. According to Disney's website:

SSR 2-bedroom sleeps 8 adults, treehouse sleeps 9.
OKW 2-bedroom sleeps 9 adults
Poly Bungalow sleeps 8 adults
BLT 2-bedroom sleeps 9 adults
GF 2-bedroom sleeps 9 adults
Kidani 2-bedroom sleeps 9 adults
BWV 2-bedroom sleeps 9 adults
BCV 2-bedroom sleeps 9 adults
WL 2-bedroom sleeps 8 adults

So any of the ones that sleep 9 will work for you, since it would be 9 plus 1 infant. It would be tight, but you'd be allowed to book it for that many.

Actually, it's one child under the age of three, not the age of two. And since the OP is planning on renting points, she would go by what DVC states is occupancy. The DVC site breaks it down by dedicated and lockoff.

Yes, the age 2 was a typo that was since corrected. I am well aware of the ages since I have small children myself and a family of 5 who won't stay in anything smaller than a 2-bedroom. So we book them a lot :)

And she said she was CONSIDERING renting points. I was giving her the breakdowns if she decides against it (as I said in m original post, "non-DVC"). I've always preferred to pay the cash rate. I like maid service.
