Hi, Hope someone out there can help, we've just got our second lot of papers through to sign and are almost there.

We have a question though, we are planning to spend 14 night at SSR next Sept, and have banked this years points to next year so we have plenty points to use for our frist DVC trip. My husband and I are travelling with our daughter who will be 19month when we go and my husbands parents.

So should we get 2 studios or go for the 2 bedroom villas? Obviously we want the privacy but we also would like to have a room we could all sit in. So the one bedroom would be out as that would mean they were on the sofa in the living area.

Any help appreciated,

Alison

PS Still hoping someone can tell me how to get SSR pic under our name when we finnish messages.

I would get a 2 BR both bed rooms have doors and are on opposite sides not next to each other. You will have a lot more common space. Request a dedicated if you are staying at SSR as this will gave 2 queen beds in the secound bedroom rather than one and pull out sofa. The big plus is the Master Br has a king size bed.

Welcome to the DVC Boards and the DIS! With the two bedroom you would have a seating area, as well as a full kitchen and a washer and dryer. With two studios, they may or may not be near each other, but you would have two bathrooms. In addition, at SSR, you would have a sofa bed (quite comfortable I might add) in each room, so even though you would have the same kind of seating area as a 2BR, there would be a place to sit comfortably besides the bed.

A dedicated 2-br, is a 2-br, where the second bedroom is integral to the overall unit.

A 2-br lockoff, on the other hand, is basically a 1-br attached to a studio with a connecting door in between. DVC can close the connecting door and use them as separate 1-brs and studios.

You will have 2 bathrooms with a 2-br unit. When Kidani opens up, you will have 3 bathrooms with a 2-br unit, with one of the three bathrooms just off the living room.

With a 14 day trip, you'll probably want the 2BR instead of 2 studios. The full kitchen and more importantly IMO, the washer & dryer, will make the trip a lot easier.
I never thought I would want to do laundry on vacation, but it makes it easier to pack (less stuff) and I don't end up with a million loads of laundry to do when I get home. I still don't want to cook on vacation though! ;)

We're the DVC members and the Grandparents, and we really like having a 2 bedroom when we bring the DGC's family with us. Also, it's easy for us to give the parents a night out and just let us babysit when we share the common living space.

Welcome Home!

missed this bit of - you can I'm new to this - do you not get 2 bathrooms in a 2 bedroom?

Sorry, don't know what I was thinking about!!! Yes, you do get 2 bathrooms in a 2BR. I was thinking about trading off a 1BR for two studios since those two options are very close in point costs. Good luck with your decision.

I agree, the 2 bedroom is the way to go. That way each couple will have their own bathroom, and you will have the common area for sitting and chatting at the end of the day, as well as light meals and snacks.

I would go with the two bedroom. We are going with my parents next May and have booked a two bedroom at AKV. The two bedroom makes it nicer because the living room is available to spend time as a family and at night we can go to our own rooms. Plus, being there for 14 nights, the washer/dryer may come in very handy.

I agree with this 100%! The kitchen is great for quick breakfasts, at the very least. With a toddler you'll be able to keep milk, juice, snacks, etc. handy. The washer/dryer is a big convenience.....laundry doesn't seem like a chore--toss clothes in the washer, go sit by the pool; toss clothes in the dryer, wind down, watch TV, etc. Last trip I returned home with all clean clothes (except the clothes on our backs, of course). I hate coming home from vacation having 4+ loads of laundry to do.

My opinion, get the 2BR....you won't regret it!:)

Thank you, thank you, thank you one and all! You confirmed that we should get a 2 bedroom! Now can you request a certain view or is just luck where you end up?

We're really suprised when we checked back and saw all the posts back, great to know we have so much help, advice and info out there. Thank you fellow DISers!:goodvibes

Plus the master bath has a big garden tub and sep shower. After a day at the park it is nice to come home to a warm bubble bath.

2bd is a must!

First of all, welcome!

Yes, you certainly can request a room in a particular area of the resort. If, for example, you wish to be close to Community Hall, the Springs area is a good choice. If you would like to be close to Downtown Disney, try Congress Park.

Try this link: www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/saratoga.jpg It can be expanded to make it easier to see.

I always politely make my request at check in, and hope for the best. Obviously there are no guarantees.

Good luck, and have a great time.

Oh, by the way, do yourself a favor and get the 2 bedroom. The other posters are right. You will be glad you did (especially for that long a trip).

Thanks Veenstra 56. Will check out the resort map.
Was wodering if there is a good place to stay to see pleasure island fireworks? We've never seen these before and wondered if we would maybe get a view at SSR allowing us to go back to our room put little one to bed and us oldies enjoy the fireworks and nibbles. Can't wait to come home next year. Two bed now a cert!

I thought they discontinued the 2 minutes at midnight fireworks at PI a long time ago.

You are right - only fireworks at PI for NYE now. We did have a studio at SSR that you could see the MK fireworks - waaaaay in the distance which was kind of cool while sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine.
