I'm looking to book a 2 bedroom or 1 bedroom with separate living area hotel suite or time share in the $260 to $290 per night price range for early November. I've looked at many of the popular
sites close the downtown area such as Double Tree, Shearaton Vistana Embassy, etc. but found them to be sub-standard, out-dated, and not well maintained.
I prefer to be within a 10-15 drive from the parks, if possible.
The Disney villas are too overpriced for a 2 bedroom so if anyone has stayed at a superior suite type hotel/rental that is at least 4 stars, i'd like to hear from you!
As always, thanks for helping me sort thru Disney-Mayhem.

There have been a lot of recent posts about Cypress Pointe Resort. I have not yet been there (going in December), but the resort is recently renovated and seems to be getting many good reviews.

Have you considered renting DVC points from a DVC member instead? It is way cheaper than renting directly from Disney. There is a dedicated board in the DVC section of the DIS. For example, a 2 bedroom at Old Key West in November is 24 points per night (Sun-Thurs nights), and rentals at $10. per point are common. So for $240. per night (tax included) you could be on-site with a HUGE room, plus all the perks of free parking and EMH and direct transportation to the parks. The downside is you have to be pretty set on your plans, as it is difficult to change dates or get a refund when you rent DVC points. HTH

you found the Sheraton Vistana and Embassy outdated ....

the only one I have found that is better offsite is Hilton Grand Vacation Club - there is one on International Drive -- and the old one across from SW.

If you don't like Sheraton Vistana - I don't think you would like Orange Lake - or Summer Bay - or the houses of Summer Bay - maybe...

there are some Marriott - closer to SW than WDW - but still around 15 minutes - Marriott's Cypress Harbour, Marriott's Grande Vista, and Horizons by Marriott -

there is 3 Marriotts closer - Imperial Palms (only 3 bedrooms), Sabal Palms, and Royal Palms. there are some complaints about Royal Palms - it needs some works. these are all the older Marriott resorts and aren't up to the new standards - so I don't think you would like them.

Let me start by saying I can't imagine spending $260-$290/nite. Last trip in November, we had a very nice 2-bed, 2-bath unit at Orbit One Vacation Villas. We booked through SkyAuction and paid $261 for the whole week!

A more modern, nicer place is the condos at Windsor Palms. They are only a few years old. We rented a 3-bed condo there in November '03 for $90/nite and the 2-bed condos are even cheaper.

If you prefer a hotel setting with housekeeping and all, how about the Residence Inn. It is clean, modern, has a free breakfast buffet and a nice landscaped pool area. The rooms are a bit smaller than at the other places I mentioned but still very nice.

You may have already ruled-out the Vistana by this time, but just wanted to suggest that sometimes when you book, they will guarantee you a room in the newer Lakes or Cascades section if you specifically ask for it. Sounds like you must have been in one of the older sections for you to call it "outdated" and "not well maintained" because overall, this resort is not like this. The Cascades is the newest section and very nice, as is the Lakes. We also love the Fountains area & find it very well maintained, but I think some may have mixed feelings on it.
But it looks like you have alot of very nice options listed here. Good luck.

I HIGHLY recommend Embassy Resort at Grand Beach. We found it to be very wonderful with excellent accommodations. Here's a link that I found with a rental (scroll down to the 3rd selection) that listed it for rent for around $190/night in November. They are 3 bedroom units with a living room and kitchen. 2 of the bedrooms are master suites with kingsize beds and the 3rd bedroom has 2 twins. There are a total of 4 TVs as well (a huge plus for us while stuck inside during Hurricane Frances!).

It is just a very short drive to WDW property. We were very happy with how easily we were able to get around. There is also covered parking for the cars so that is a plus, too.

Can you tell I like this place?!? :cheer2:

Here is the link to the rental sites I found:

You may want to look at the Vistana Villages, it is newer than the Vistana Resort. They did not have any room service, only a deli/convenience store by the pool. The decor is very nice and they have a nice pool area. Although, no water slide which is a drawback for my kids.

We have family members who own a time share at Fantasy World Vacation Villas and as a Christmas gift they let us use one of their weeks last week. We were pleasantly surprised. The unit was a 2 story villa and each had a ground floor entrance. The unit consisted of a fully equipped kitched (stove, frig, microwave, dishwasher pots, pans, dishes, utensils etc.), a separate eating area with a dining table and 4 chairs plus 2 stools against the counter, a living room, and a screened porch. Upstairs were 2 bedrooms (one with 2 twin beds and one with a queen bed) a full bath and a washer/dryer. There was also an additional 1/2 bath downstairs. The living room had a TV as well as each bedroom. We chose not to have maid service, but it was available for an extra fee. The complex has 4 pools (just basic) as well as saunas and a poolside bar. There was a small convenience store in the lobby as well as a lounge and gameroom. There were tennis, basketball, and shuffleboard courts as well as children's programs on certain days. The staff was very friendly and never pushy about buying a time share. It was very quiet. I think in off-season it rents for about $90.00 a night. It's off 192 but far enough back that you never even hear the traffic. You can also access it by SR 535 (much less traffic than 192) and is about a 10 min drive from the parks allowing for traffic. Definitely an option to keep in mind; it was great having all that space and it was nice to have a quiet place to return to after the hectic pace of the parks!

i would agree with an earlier post, before spending all that money check out skyauction.com,
i stayed at summer bay through them, 2 bdr/2bath 7 nights total 261.00 it was nice, i own at orange lake which is nice too but it is expenxive if you cannot get a deal, not sure if they are listed on skyauction.com or not.
these are the only two places i can vouch for
but i can vouch for skyauction.com as well good luck

Try Caribe Royale, it is very close to disney, the rooms are beautiful, huge. The pool areas are lovely, and the restaurants and quick food store are great. We can highly reommend caribe.
