2 bedroom resort BLT

Sat down and did a deep dive on value of points beyond just the initial purchase price, and can now see why so many recommend BLT. Love the location and the art in the rooms. It’s also such a different vibe than our current AKV points.

All that to ask: if we had home resort advantage how hard is it to get a 2 bedroom resort view for 9 nights the first two weeks of June? Any actual experience trying for this.

I’ve looked at availability charts and at 11 months it will be a 87% chance or 6/7 chance. Does this mean even with the 11 months it’s hard to get a 2 bedroom resort? I’m used to kidani which has 100% or 7/7 likelihood until 7 months.

I just want to know if we should budget for a preferred even though we would like a resort view or is the likelihood high for a resort view so we can budget for that.

I can't say about June, but I know from experience that you can get a 2 bedroom "resort view" in January, February, and March right at 11 months. For that period, you can comfortably wait days, weeks, or months after the start of the 11 months window to get preferred view. For the most popular DVC week of the year, the first week of December, you'd need to walk to get resort view, but can book preferred view at the start of the 11 months window.

Note that DVC has both dedicated and lock off 2 bedrooms. The lock offs disappear as the studio part is booked, leaving many one bedrooms.

Its roughly 50 point difference between resort 2br and preferred. So that's quite a gap in points, 395 vs 441, so basically question between 400 or 450 points ownership interest if going every year.

With banking and borrowing, you could probably split the difference at 425 and be good. If you get resort one year, lets you bank 30 points, if next year you cant get resort, you only need to borrow 16 so drops that next set of points to 409, so enough again for resort that year get it again bank again to hedge for preferred again. And if you get resort a couple years in a row, could "burn" the banked points on a preferred view as a treat.

I just booked 7 nights in early June at BLT in a 2BR at 7 months. It was the preferred view. Resort view was not available. I could have booked 9 nights but availability decreased rapidly after the 7 month mark
