We are planning a trip with another couple and would be interested in learning more about any 2-bedroom options rather than just two separate rooms. We've always stayed in standard rooms at moderate or above resorts in the past. I'm interested in any information on where 2 bedroom options are available and hearing about experiences others have had that could help guide our decision.
TIA

All of the Deluxe Villas (DVC Resorts) have a 2-bedroom option.

For the Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, currently the only 2-bedroom option is the Bungalows. There will be more 2-bedroom options once the Island Tower opens in December.

Thanks for the information.
We're considering either something near MK or Epcot. Are they all pretty much the same? Any previous experiences would be approximate.

If you’re set with staying onsite, DVC will probably work out better than cash for cost and selection of 2BRs.

If you’re considering MK or EP area (we love those too!), there are some differences between design and layout. Timeline will be important for which ones likely have availability. I would start there with which resorts are likely open for your travel week, then compare from those options. For instance, March has less options than if you were looking for May which is still in HomePriority window.

Just so you know, 2bd are going to be more than 2 regular rooms or studios (if price makes a difference). Even with DVC a 1bd is double the points of a studio. So definitely look up one of the DVC calculators on how much it would cost or even on disneys website for DVC 2bd.

Good point. 1BRs are generally 2 to 2.5 times the points of same resort studio. 2BR is usually 2.7 to 3 times cost of studio.

The best part of 1BR and 2BR is having a living room and kitchen to share. 1BR will have one couple sleeping in the living room though. And most 1BR only have 1 bathroom (except BLT and AKV-K), where 2BR or 2 studios will have 2 bathrooms.

Most of the time getting 2 connecting studios is low odds, but Poly1 and VGF2 studios are pretty much entirely connecting studios so the chance of success at that request is very high. Those are also what I call ‘fancier’ than other lower point studios generally speaking.

One thing about getting a 2 bedroom suite or villa; the bedrooms won't be equal. One will be a Master suite with a King bed and huge bathroom. The other will have 2 queens, or 1 queen plus a pull out/down sofa, and then just a standard bathroom. You will need to figure out which couple gets the better bedroom.

As others have said, a 2br villa will cost close to the price of three resort rooms. The 2 br villas are a great way to relax and enjoy a living room and full kitchen. But as others have said, one couple will have a great king bed suite while the other will get a standard bedroom with two queens or a queen and a sofa bed or Murphy bed. The 2 br villa will have two bathrooms.

I think that two regular resort rooms are a better option. You can ask for a room with connecting doors, if you like. But many people find that too much togetherness is too much. Although you are having a great time, having a separate space to escape can be really nice. :)

We have done it both ways. We rented points at the Beach Club for a 2 BR villa and have had two rooms at PO-FQ. We liked both, but preferred tha two rooms at PO-FQ. We don't cook much and having 4 queen beds was much better than the bedding combinations at the villa.

We've rented last minute DVC 2-bedroom villas (and even a 3 BR) over the past several years. We are local and have full flexibility in our schedules to wait until there is a distressed renter that drops the price usually a few days before. As such, it has provided us wonderful opportunities to get an otherwise much more costly DVC villa.

The being said:

The 2 BR can offer much larger and connected balconies (i.e. VGF and AKL-Kidani). This provides extra space for socializing and breathtaking views (and morning coffee). The 2 BR offer washer and dryers. But, OKW offers a full-size washer and dryer in its own room and not behind a bifold door. OKW 2 BR villas are massive, and we always stay along the canal to have a great view.

We fully take advantage of the kitchens and cooking some meals in the villas. It saves quite a bit of money, but more importantly time. It is also ultra convenient when you want something within arm's reach when watching television/movies.

My personal preference on 2 BR villas (in order from top to bottom):

OKW (only with canal view. OKW's boat to DS is fantastic and their quiet pools/hot tubs are wonderful)
VGF (glorious architecture and theming)
AKL-Kidani (only savannah view and has a 3rd bathroom)
SSR - only if near or at Congress Park (a simple walk to DS or even the adjacent boat dock offers some good dining options at POR/POFQ.
SSR Treehouse - this has the best location with basically a private dock and ultra quiet pool, but it misses the mark with outdated rooms. But it offers plenty of space and privacy in the woods or along the river. If these get a proper refresh, it could be our favorite.

Hope this helps a little.

@GADisneyDad14, don't the deluxe resorts (GF, Poly, CR, Y&B) have 2BR suites that are different from DVC 2BR villas?
I may have missed it, but does Yacht Club offer a true 2BR suite with a full kitchen? I know about the turret suites, and we were going to book one of them, but didn't see a full kitchen or washer/dryer. Instead, we got a WV room at YC a few months ago.

Pretty much every deluxe resort has 2BR suites with club level access. CSR has a 2BR executive suite in the Casitas and a 2BR presidential suite in the tower. These suites may be more money than you want to spend. Suites tend to not be included in any discounts that are offered but they do turn up every once in a while. The suites will have 1K, 2Q and at least 1Q sofa bed, perhaps a twin size chair bed as well. They do not have kitchens but will have a coffee bar. And of course, club access (with the exception of CSR's executive suite).

The DVC 2BR villas will be more affordable than the suites. Their layouts will vary from one resort to the next with the most tricked out 2BR units being the over water bungalows at Poly and the Cascade Cabins at CCV (not to be confused with the FW 1BR cabins). Some 2BR villas are "lockoffs", meaning that they are a studio and a 1BR villa which are connected by an interior locking door. Others are what are referred to as dedicated 2BR villas. These have only one door to the exterior and they don't have the ability to lock off one area from the others. Some 2BR have 3 baths, and some feature split baths in the 2nd bedroom with a tub/shower in one area and a shower stall in the other. The master bath is usually more roomy and features both a soaking tub and a shower stall. The 2nd bedroom in a dedicated 2BR will have 2Q beds. There will be 1Q and a Q murphy bed or sofa bed in a lock off. The master bedrooms all have king beds.

As far as the DVC Epcot resorts are concerned, Beach Club, Boardwalk and Riviera all have regular 2BR villas. All of the 2BR villas at Boardwalk are lockoffs. BCV has no view choices. RIV has standard and preferred views. The standard views can actually have fireworks views. BWV has 3 views - boardwalk, pool/garden and standard. If renting points you can request standard or preferred (which is either boardwalk or pool/garden).

In the MK area you have PVB (Poly), VGF and BLT (Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary). The BLT 2BRs will have the most varied configurations depending where the room is located in relationship to the curves. BLT has 3 view - theme park, pool/lake or standard. PVB only has the bungalows right now but will feature 2BR villas and suites as well when the tower opens. DVC members have not been told when they will begin to be able to use their points for reservations so there is no ability to rent a Poly Tower 2BR at this time. The Tower is expected to open in mid-December and cash reservations are currently being accepted. VGF has both dedicated and lockoff 2BR villas. There are 2 possible views for 2BRs - lake and standard. The lake view is not a theme park view. You are almost directly facing the CR. All VGF 2BRs are in the original VGF building.

The suites will have 1K, 2Q and at least 1Q sofa bed, perhaps a twin size chair bed as well.
Thanks for this information. I was wondering whether any 2BR suites had 2 king beds. It appears they’re the same as a 2BR DVC villa - the dedicated 2BR will have 2 queens in the second bedroom.

None of the suites have kitchens or w/d. Only the villas have those amenities. We have stayed in the YC turret suite and it was nice, but I would pick a 2-b villa over a suite any day as I enjoy having the kitchen and w/d.

Hence, one of the reasons, we skipped over the turret suites.
