Hey all!

My wife and I are going to WDW at the end of September for 7 nights, and we want to try out a 2-bedroom villa for the first time. Due to availability, there is only the option of OKW or Saratoga, neither of which we've stayed at before as we've always stayed on the monorail! I was thinking OKW because I've heard the rooms are the biggest, but that's really the only reason! Open to any thoughts or tips or suggestions in terms of requesting specific buildings to be close to DS, etc.

If we did switch to Saratoga, is getting the Preferred instead of Standard worth the increased points?

Thanks so much,

David

Personally we love the Preferred villas in Congress Park at SSR. The recently reno'd villas are super nice and the easy walkability to Disney Springs from there is something we love. We love staying there and much prefer the resort overall to OKW.

Will you frequent Disney Springs? If yes, SSR will be more convenient than OKW. The walk is still pretty convenient even if you aren't in the Preferred buildings.

We stayed in Paddock (standard) and requested the building that's closest to the DS walkways (villas 6500s - 6800s). Personally, I don't think the Preferred is worth extra points, but to each their own. Most people love Congress Park because they love the view of DS from the balcony (if you get villas on that side) and it is the closest to the DS walkway.
OKW you get more space in your villa for sure.

SSR is a centralized layout where all the rooms except a very distant few are relatively close to the main area

OKW has the hospitality house way at one end and the rooms closest to it are their own booking category that I’d bet is almost certainly sold out. The rooms at the other end are unwalkable from a practical perspective.

But on the other hand, there’s no question the rooms at old key west are better except for the pull out couch in the living room.

OKW for being larger IMO as SSR you can't guarantee you are for sure easily walkable to DS. If only the first building or two was preferred so you were close then I would choose that.

That being said are you sure you are going to be okay staying there when you have always been by MK previously? You will be spending more but getting a resort less connected to MK.

I really thinks this depends on if you like walking (and are capable) or not. I stayed at OKW in HH category and walked to DS daily (the boats weren't running at that time).
