We can get a 2 bedroom villa at Old Key West for $490 plus tax with free dining or 3 rooms at the Dolphin for $297 total with the teacher discount and not dining. Should work out to about the same amunt, with the Dolphin possible slightly more. This is for 7 nights, and the party is as follows

Grandma and Granpa
Son and DIL and granddaughters 3 and 1
Daughter and granddaughter 4

Which would you chose?

Thanks

Without even taking into account the whole issue of dining, I'd be inclined to choose the 3 rooms at the Dolphin (and I am a DVC member at OKW). I just think that with as many adults as you have in your group, privacy and sleeping comfort might be an issue at OKW in a 2 BR. At OKW you would have a king bed in one room, 2 queens in the other, and the sleeper sofa in the living room. Personally, I think it is a little bit of a hassle to have people sleeping in the living area (especially adults). The kitchen at OKW is awesome but, for 7 nights, I'd go with separate hotel rooms for each family and just pay as you go for meals. I think it will preserve family harmony :cool1: Let us know what you decide!

May I ask how you got such a wonderful rate at OKW? We would love a 2 bedroom at OKW, we currently have 2 rooms at POR, we are only staying 4 nights and when I priced OKW w/ the free dining package it came to 2,000 and change and that was only w/ a 1 day pass for each of us. Are you renting points or are you a DVC member all ready and the 490 is for tickets only not the room?
As for my opinion I think I would go for the 3 rooms just b/c I love the Epcot resort area. Enjoy your trip

Why not do 3 rooms at another resort besides Dolphin. Even with the discount deal at Dolphin, you could get 3 rooms at a moderate like Coronado, Port Orleans etc... WITH free dining for not that much more a night.
Just a thought..

But with those 2 choices above, considering the amount of adults you have, I would do separate rooms. More privacy, better location to Epcot and MGM and more options for dining, even if it isn't free. I have stayed at OKW and Dolphin. I like them both very much but 7 days with ALL that family - I think you need your space. Since all the little ones are so small, you can store juice boxes, jelly, milk and such in the little fridge at the Dolphin. Do cereal in the AM and then PB&J's occasionally after naps. Now if you plan on renting cars, I might shift back to OKW - much easier with young kids since you park literally steps from your room and Dolphin charges an arm and a leg just to park - don't even talk about valet :sad2:

I definetly would go with the 2BR at OKW! DH & I, MIL,FIL,BIL, & my brother, SIL & 2yo niece all stayed in one on Old Turtle Pond Road, right across from the bus stop and it was WONDERFUL! So much space, the whirlpool tub, kitchen, and washer & dryer. The kitchen was great for breakfast and late night "snacks". If someone doesn't mind the sofa bed, I say OKW! But, that's JMO. You've got to look at the dynamics of the group you are going with, OKW is very relaxing and laid back. Olivia's is a great place to eat and OKW has quiet pools and a nice main pool. I've never stayed at the Dolphin, but I imagine it is a really different environment. OKW is set up kind of like a neighborhood. I'm sure you will have a great time where ever you all decide. (If you decide to go moderate, I recommend POFQ for a smaller, peaceful resort.)

3 rooms at the Dolphin. It looks like you would be getting the Dolphin rooms for $99 each. That's such a great bargain, and the Dolphin is a true deluxe resort. The heavenly beds are great, and the Location is the best. It might be hard to get that rate at the Dolphin again in the future.

As much as I LOVE OKW and have stayed there many times, I think with your size party, I would have to go with the Dolphin. If for nothing else, you will have three bathrooms. My family of 2 adults and 4 children stay in a 2 bedroom at OKW and I think that's just the right amount of people.

Additionally, with three rooms at the Dolphin, other members of your party can walk where they want, when they want. I think it allows for a little more freedom of chioce.

Either way, you will have a great time!
