2 Bedroom at BCV big enough for 8?

Our family just joined DVC this month and we are in the process of planning our first trip for next winter. My question is this: Is a 2 Bedroom at BCV big enough for 8 people? We will have 4 adults and 4 children. The problem is the 4 children will be between the ages of 14 months and 3 1/2 years old. Each of these kids will be needing a nap every day and I am worried there won't be enough space with a 2 bedroom. Would we be better off getting a 2 bedroom and studio? If so is it possible to get a 2 bedroom and studio close to one another? Thanks in advance for your help!!

You will have three rooms - a king bed in one bedroom and a queen and a queen sleeper or two queens in the other bedroom. Plus at least one of those folding cribs. I would think you could ask for another.

I would say there is plenty of room for them to take naps and let the adults enjoy the living room or the deck.

The bigger question might be - is there enough space for all the noise when they are all awake? ;)

no stick with your 2-bedroom - just ask for a dedicated with 2 queens - instead of 1 queen and the sleeper sofa.

the little ones could take naps in the 2nd bedroom with the door closed and the adults could enjoy the livingroom.

or if the little ones can't sleep well in the same room - you could put one in the 2nd bedroom and the other in the master - though this would be my last choice.

you want a dedicated so if one wakes up early they can't just go walking out the door in the hall - this type only has a door that goes to the livingroom.

You should be fine. The 2 queen second BR is a direct reservation at the time you reserve, not a request so make that clear up front as you likely will not be able to change your mind and get it later. Actually, you likely need to reserve at 11 months out to get the 2 queen rooms anyway.

We had four adults, a teen, and two preschoolers who took daily naps in a BCV 2BR back in August, and were plenty comfortable.
Enjoy!

We had 4 adults, a 7 yr old, a 6 yr old, and two 2 yr olds in a 2br dedicated at VWL (which, I would think, would be comparable to a dedicated 2Q at BCV). IN our case, DH and I gave up the master br to our guests (BIL, SIL, and their 2 yr old). We took the 2nd br and let our boys have one Q bed, DH and I took the other Q bed, and dd, well, she had a bed alright... she always found her way right inbetween us.

For our next trip, we will have the same group, another yr older, plus one infant nephew added to the fold. Our plan: DH and I in master br, dd in master br (like I said, she would only find her way there anyway, but we'll try her on a little inflatabed...), our 2 boys on the sleeper in the main room, then our guests have the studio side for their son, baby, and selves. In reality, it will probably end up that DH and I stick all 3 of our kids in the master bed to go to sleep and then move two of them later to the fold-out before we head for bed... we both tend to stay up late on vacation, whereas the kids zonk out early! This way, they can do so behind closed doors and leave the main area for us adults.

And after THIS year... we're lookin' at an extra room if our guests come with us again!

From day one of my reservation it said I was getting a dedicated 2 bedroom. At check in I was given a lockoff. For my stay it did not matter. Make sure you tell them at checkin you had a dedicated reserved.

You have to request a 2 queen dedicated- it is reserved as such. If you only request a 2 BR dedicated, they can change to a lock off because essentially they are the same bed configuration. We had Room 333 at BCV 2Q designated, and our family next door in a dedicated studio 331. There was a housekeeping closet in between. While you will have space for naps, what about at night? Will you all be going to bed at the same time? One family can share the 2Q room but unless you are keeping your children in the master br, you will have no place for the adults to stay up at night.

Did you discuss it with them? While they could still end up with none available, you should have gotten that room type. Still, you're warning to always plan ahead and remind the appropriate people of all the important info is a good one.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Kem330 when you had the 2 Bedroom and studio next to one another how many people did you have in your party? I am concerned that we will be feeling a bit cramped once all of the kids have been put down for the night(usually before 8:30PM). The other alternative would be to let the other family take the bedroom with 2 beds and allow our 2 kids to stay in the master bedroom and my wife and I would take the pullout in the living room. Does that sound crazy? Thanks again for all of your insight.

Oh sorry, I have never been in a 2BR, so I can't answer your question. I would think however you should be fine.

I made a 2 bedroom SSR ressie and they asked me if I wanted a "lock-off" or "dedicated". I said dedicated, but now I am looking at the hard copy confirmation letter and it says nothing about dedicated or lock-off. Should it list it on the confirmation letter?

It should say dedicated for you to actually have one. I'd call or email MS.

We had more people- 7 in the 2 BR and 4 in the studio. They are all essentially adults- kids stay up till all hours! But we were all one family in the 2BR. It could get a little close (even with inlaws) to all be together with all the young children. You could put your kids to bed in your room and then move them out when you are ready to sleep. Or take the mattress off the hide a bed and put it on the floor in your room for them to sleep on so you can keep the king.:D

The living area (if not compromised by using the sleeper bed) is more generous than you think. We usually had all 4 adults in it during the evening; BIL would be on couch w/ SIL and my dh, watching something on TV or BIL's laptop computer, and I'd be at the table planning the next day's adventure! :)

As for sleeping, like I said before, and someone else reiterated, we plan to probably put our 3 in the master bed while we enjoy the main area; then, when we're ready to crash, we'll move the kids to the sleeper sofa and resume control of the master bed. It's doable....
