We travel with my sister and her family and we love staying in the 2 bdr. Villas at the Beach Club, however, for our next trip we will outgrow the capacity (there will be 9 of us... none in a crib anymore). I read somewhere that the AKL 2 bdr. villas will have a capacity of 9 because they added a pull out chair somewhere in the room. Has anyone stayed in these that can give me some insights (are these done yet?). In addition, does anyone know if Disney is planning to add these pull out chairs to its other two bdr. villas (Beach Club or Boardwalk, in particular)?

DVC isn't saying about adding it to other DVC resorts.

it would be great at OKW - OKW definitely has the room.

yes the 2-bedroom sleeps 9. It does not have the regular master bath. Instead the whirlpool tub is a combination bath/shower. this is just in the Jambo (old AKL) - when the new building is complete - Kidani - the master bath will be like the other DVC resorts.

the 2-bedroom at Kidani (when it is finished) will have 3-bathrooms instead of just 2. (1-bedroom will have 2 bathrooms)

Wow! I didn't know that about the bathrooms. We don't really need an extra bath... but its a nice plus! Thanks for the info!

Now, if I could just figure out way to convince my dad to move over to the AKL (he's a die hard BCV fan... go figure... the man could care less about our trips to Disneyworld, but try to get him to switch resorts and he really sinks his heels in. lol!).......

If you get a Value two bedroom at AKV, the living room may be too small to open both the sleeper sofa and the sleeper chair.

I think to add the sleeper chair to other villas, they would have to change the literature for sales. Besides, occupancy isn't really based on the space in the room, it's based on the exits, widths of corridors, etc for evacuation. And none of that changed in the other villas.

The old deluxe rooms at AKL that were converted to DVC villas used to sleep five, so they should have all the evacuation capacity they need to have five in a room instead of four.

Thanks, Pat. I had read that even the Value one bedrooms had the sleeper chair, but there wasn't enough room to open it up if the sofa was opened up.

But when I looked at the Vacation Planner it does state that for the one and two bedrooms, "most include the sleeper chair".

If you're a DVC member there are several room types at AKL Villas which aren't the same as the other rooms at AKL. A "value" room is just smaller, then there are "standard" which are pool view rooms, "savannah" which are gtd savannah view, and "concierge" which is on the concierge floor. Within those designations there are studios, one bedroom and two bedroom villas, plus there's a three bedroom villa. These rooms can be booked by cash guests also as long as there's inventory available not booked by members or "undeclared" inventory which will always be available for cash guests and members can't book those with their points. Kidani Village is under construction and will add a whole new area to AKL along with it's own dedicated savannah. Confusing...yes! You can look at the DVC website to see the points charts for each DVC resort for the timeframe and room type but there are no ressies available yet for Kidani as it's not yet finished. Jambo House refers to the villas on the 5th and 6th floor of the current AKL resort.---Kathy

from the dvc site - AKV - accomodations

'Defined as a Studio plus One-Bedroom
Value Rooms sleep up to eight, all others sleep up to nine '

Well at least I'll get a nice view for all my money. ;)

I have also read posts from people who have stayed in a value that had both the chair and sofa but couldn't open both of them. Maybe some have them and some don't? :confused3
