2 ADRs?

We aren't 100% sure what day we can leave for WDW so we are going to book 10 days and bank on free dining when we make our ADRs next month. I have two days were I would like to make two different ADRs for dinner that night and then cancel as soon as I know which day we are leaving, do they let you make two in one night? Anybody tried this? I suppose I could make one in my name, one in my husbands on two different phone calls? Thanks for any suggestions.

I know you think you are asking a very innocent question...but this is something that causes a bit of controversy. If you make a reservation at two different restaurants for the same timeframe, you are keeping someone else that calls from possibly being able to make a reservation. Can you do what you're suggesting? Yes, but it would really be better if you could make up your mind before you call and just reserve one time slot at one restaurant. If you change your mind, you can always call back and see if the restaurant you want instead is still available.

Disney has and will cancel duplicate adrs....not often but it does happen.My neighbor learned this lesson the hard way in December.

This is true. I asked a CM a few weeks ago if I could make 2 for the same night, long story why I wanted to, and she explained that Disney checks the ADRs after closing and if they notice that anyone has 2, they go ahead and cancel one, but you have no control over WHICH one they cancel...THEY get to decide! Anyway, I was able to switch at the 60 day mark with no trouble, if this helps (that's during what is apparently going to be super-busy Passover Week).

ETA: I contemplated that "use a different name" strategy that you mentioned, but decided I'd leave it up to fate, and I was glad I did...and relieved it worked out.
