Continuing the story after a work/training/illness hiatus
Familiar Cast: myself, DH (Martin), our 7 yr old DD (Lara), and DHs Aunt and Uncle
Our second At Sea day included a lovely sunrise walk (albeit VERY windy!!!) for Auntie and I. Ran into Plutospup again and stopped for a little chat. We picked up Uncle and Lara and headed back to Topsiders for breakfast. (Those made-to-order omelettes are addictive I dont even eat eggs at home!) While having breakfast, we talked about our plans for the day and what to wear for semi-formal night. Lara announced that she wanted to wear the Minnie Mouse cruise dress she saw in Mickeys Mates! (Hadnt even looked at the price on that one!)
After taking Martin his orange juice, we all headed for the shops to check out the daily special (watch day). Auntie found a nice Citizen watch for Uncle, then joined us in Mickeys Mates. She asked Lara where her dress was, and Lara told her Mommy said its too expensive. (It was $55.00! How much will she wear it at home in Canada?!?!) Auntie acts as Laras Grandma because her own are both in Heaven. Of course she immediately bought the dress for her because Lara will look so cute in it! Oh, the joys of being a little girl spoiled by her Grandma. At least its big on her, so she can wear it again if we cruise within the next two years.
Auntie and Uncle headed off to Bingo while the three of us discovered the joys of relaxing in the padded chairs on Deck 4. We laid there with our books for about an hour, and just enjoyed watching the water go by. At 11:30, it was time to meet Daisy Duck so Lara and I went to line up. After relaxing some more, Auntie and Uncle found us and we went to the seafood buffet in Parrot Cay.
This wasnt as enjoyable as our previous buffets at Topsiders for some reason. Another group was seated with us and they didnt seem too happy about it. Although the seafood was good, the other options were more limited. My Japanese-Canadian husband wasnt sure what the sushi was! Lara decided she didnt like anything on the buffet, so we asked for a childrens menu. That was only available in Lumieres! She had a roll while she waited for us to take her to Pinocchios Pizza. After her pizza, we all got some ice cream at Scoops. (We loved visiting Scoops!)
Although it looked more like a wave pool today, Lara dragged Daddy back to the Goofy Pool for the afternoon. I went to the Spa to take advantage of the Rainforest Pass that Auntie won at Bingo earlier in the week. While I was there, I tried out the Chakra Balancing capsule. I wouldnt recommend it for anyone claustrophobic, but I actually enjoyed it very much. You lay on your back with just your head sticking out of this large white egg capsule. There are controls at hand level to adjust the various contact points (lower back, knees, etc) and its heated toasty warm. (Considering how well the ship was air-conditioned, I really enjoyed this part!) A mask is placed over your eyes and soft music plays through headphones, so the world around you is completely blocked out. I thoroughly relaxed and dozed off in my little cocoon. After I finished, I went to the Rainforest to try it out. It was quite busy, so I tried one of the steam rooms while waiting for a heated lounger. I felt like Goldilocks in the Three Bears house one room was too steamy, one was too scented, and one was just right. After relaxing there for a bit, then reading on the heated lounger, I went to find my family again. Lara and I tried our luck at jackpot Bingo (only one number left!) but had lots of fun anyways. Just last week, Lara started making trilling sounds and running around the house. When I asked what she was doing, she was sharing Bingo Love just like Clarey! I think well all be re-living highlights of this cruise for a long time to come!
After getting dressed for our dinner in Parrot Cay, we got more family portraits taken. This time we posed in front of the Mickey Statue in the Atrium. The photos turned out great (and Lara really did look adorable in her Sailor skirt and jacket). After the disappointment of the seafood buffet at lunch, I wasnt sure what to expect from the Captains Gala dinner, but it was incredible!!! Claudio (our server) had noticed my love of all seafood throughout the week and told me he knew just what to bring me tonight. After starting with the grilled shrimp appetizer and the mushroom soup, out came my dinner with one of the largest lobster tails Id ever seen! It was quickly removed from the shell, lemon butter added, and I was in heaven - savouring every mouthful! Halfway through my dinner, out came another dinner! This one had an even larger lobster tail on it! Claudio was thrilled by my reaction, reminding me that he told me he would take care of me! Now I was glad that Id had a fairly small lunch, because not one bite of either lobster tail went to waste (or to anyone else in my family for that matter!) Sorry, Plutospup, I guess we had the excellent servers this cruise! (And they never felt the need to remind us of the excellent speech, either!) Big surprise I had no room for the chocolate lava cake Id planned, although Claudio insisted I could still eat cherries jubilee. (He was right I did)
After walking around a bit after dinner, we went to see Disney Dreams. This show was amazing! We all enjoyed it very, very much! Afterwards, we began packing so it wouldnt cut into our Castaway Cay day. Rocking to sleep and dreaming about our upcoming day in paradise soon followed for all of us.
