Well . . . I'm going to post a few things about our Western cruise in its own thread but it won't be very detailed because we truly just hung out during the second week of our back to back cruises.
We did not do any Disney excursions during the two weeks at sea. What we did on the Western was this:
Grand Cayman:
We booked a waverunner excursion to Stingray City and Rum Point Beach. That was the best fun ever! The vendor we used is Action Watersports. Their website is http://ciactionwatersports.com. Just use their website as a means to contact them and ask about the waverunners from the Grand Caymanian Resort to Stingray City. When we booked we went through http://grandcaymancruiseexcursions.com but that brings you through a broker instead of doing it directly with the company. We paid $95 each for our own waverunner. We took a taxi from the tender location to the Grand Caymanian Resort and them met the tourguides on the beach behind the resort. Everyone was fitted with their lifevests and then got on their waverunner. There were about 8 runners total. We left from the hotel and took about a 20-25 minute ride out to Stingray City. It was AWESOME! The waves were spectacular and we were able to really cut up on our ride out there. We spent about 30-45 minutes on the sandbar feeding the stingrays. (Bring your own snorkel mask.) After that, we took a short ride to get to Rum Point Beach. There are drinks and food available there. This is a pristine area! The price per lot is outrageous. After we drank our drinks (a mudslide and a beer), we headed back to the resort. I would guess that we were gone for about 2 1/2 hours or so. I would recommend goggles if you're not used to salt water in your eyes when you're driving a waverunner. Sunglasses do you no good. I would rate our time at this excursion as an A+.
Cozumel:
We did a Discover Scuba excursion that we booked directly with Eagle Ray Divers http://www.eagleraydivers.com. My dh hasn't scuba dived in 7 years and I've never tried it.
Luis was our instructor and he reviewed some basic skills with us on the boat before we launched. Once we would enter the water, we would practice these skills before we began our dive. Our captain took us out to our dive site and after we had all of our diving equipment on, we stepped off the boat into water that was over our heads. Our BCDs were inflated and it was not hard to stay afloat at all. We then practiced with our faces in the water, breathing with our regulators to get the feel of it. We then ventured to water where we could stand and we kneeled down as we went through the exercises we had already discussed in the boat. Afte we had mastered those basic exercises, we carefully ventured out into the water, diving deeper and deeper until we reached a 40 foot depth. We scuba dived for an hour before we carefully ascended to the surface. Had it not been for Luis, I would have never accomplished this dive. He was very understanding and kept me calm and confident throughout the duration. I've decided that scuba is something I want to do. I will be looking into classes locally and hopefully will return to the Caribbean to do my open sea dives for certification! The cost of our excursion for 2 people was $130. The taxi rides in Cozumel are CHEAPPPPPP! $5 - $6 per couple each way!
Thursday brought the day for our Vow Renewal!!!! I'll post details as soon as I can put my thoughts together!
