1st Week of October?

We have taken a family trip to DLR the past 3 years. Two years ago, we went the first week of October and had a great time. We decided to do October again and this time we went Oct 9-14. It was insanely crowded (at least by my measure). I will never go to DLR again if I expect it to be that crowded.

My question is - Is the first week of October better than the second because of school fall breaks, or is the way it was this past October for us just the way DLR is now in general for that time of year?

HalloweenTime is very popular, so I would expect crowds regardless of when you go in October. I've been tracking some of the events and school breaks in the 2017 Calendar of Events thread, but it's a work in progress. The first full weekend of October (10/7-8) will be very busy because Gays Days, plus Columbus Day on Monday.

Thank you. Our last day would be October 6, so right before the Gay Days/Holiday weekend. I would expect the 6th to be very busy. My hope is that the rest of the week would be more like the first week of October when we went in 2015 than the Oct 9-14 of 2016. I suspect any week at Disneyland is probably going to be busier than it was two years ago, but not sure how much of the increase in crowds we saw was because of this versus the number of schools on fall break.

Main Street vehicles usually only operate in the morning until crowds get too large (or a parade), so no crowds on this day.

Don't forget about Mickeys Halloween Party! On the days there is a party, guests get to enter Disneyland 3 hours before the party starts. But daytimes should be doable. The schedule is not out yet for exact dates, but based on last year, there is a party 2 or 3 times a week during October. Just plan accordingly :)
