I am making myself crazy here. I am trying to fix a date to visit WDW Sept 30 - Oct 7. I want to go the 1st week of october, but not sure how the food and wine festivial and halloween and columbus day effect the crowd levels. Most handbooks referr to October as a slow and quiet month. Then there the weather, I still want to be hot enough to go swimming. Help please :confused3

The weather will still be very hot and humid at this time of year. I have been the past 3 years end of September into first week in October and Columbus day weekend will bring a lot more people into the parks, so do not expect it to be dead I would say starting the Thursday of Columbus day weekend is when the crowd levels will really start to pick-up. If you follow a good plan and get to the parks early I'm sure you will avoid most of the crowds. The first weekend of F&W is usually a little more busy at Epcot, but it is still doable IMHO.
