1st week of June

Its right at about a 15 hour trip from st.louis area....we only stop so the girls can go tinkle and when we get hungry....I usually drive over night and the girls sleep most of the way...works out real well for us....

Chuck that is how we go too..but we take 20 into LA then 49 to 10. 10 until we hit Baton Rouge then 12 then by Slidell we pick up 10 again.

We usually take the trip kind of slow and actually make it part of our vacation. We drive to Baton Rouge and spend the night, then the next day we drive to Tallahasse and spend the night again. Now on the way home we don't take so much time and only spend one night. Then we stop at a lil town inbetween Slidell and Baton Rouge called Covington.

Maybe a sign in the back window of our cars that says "honk if you are going to WDW" would be good. ;)

We will be leaving on May 28th to begin our trip too. Not sure how early we will be hitting the road..we have a few errands to run that we can't do until that morning but we should get into Baton Rouge around 3 or so.

Has anyone else ever noticed all the bugs that seem to love the windsheild in LA?

You're right, Chuck!
I forgot about going around the New Orleans loop thingie!;)

Jen...good idea!

Maybe we can get the DIS store to sell stickers with that on them!:teeth:

As for DH, he is a road-warrior commando!
I told him, this year we're stopping when we get into Florida, spend the night, and get to WDW next day more refreshed.

I tell you, that Florida "panhandle" just about takes as long as going thru the Texas panhandle!

:earseek:

I know what you mean about the Florida panhandle. Last year my 12 yo ds couldn't believe we were in Florida, yet only about halfway there! It's like once we crossed over the state line, time seemed to stand still; hours and hours and hours of the same scenery until we finally started to see Disney billboards - then our will to live came back!

Another Texan here, hoping to talk DH into a trip June 14-22 (that's when our APs expire). Kids are out of school May 28, but DD's recital keeps us here until the 12th.

We've made the drive 3 times now, and found the best stopover location on our last trip. Marianna, Florida....about 45 minutes before Tallahassee, 12 hours from home. Several hotels to choose from, and when we left at 8:30 AM we arrived at WDW before 1:00. Not bad at all.

We've always taken 20 to Jackson, MS, then cut south, 49 to 98, to 10. Thinking of trying the New Orleans route on our next trip though for some variety. :D

SU BEAT.....DON"T DO IT!!! We took our first trip last May. Went the familiar I20/H49/I65/I10 way there and tried the dreaded LA way home. Almost exactly the same time-frame and LA is SCARY!!! There was nothing for hours sometimes and at least the other way there is a little scenery now and then. I really would not go the LA way ever, ever, again. Have fun, though, no matter what, because you are going to WDW and I'm not for another year!!!!!

HUNNY POTTS... Can't remember where you are from exactly. I'm in DFW area and we made it to Tallahassee in about 13-14 hours I believe. We got up the next morning and were swimming at WDW and getting hair wraps by 1 or so!!! :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

:D

I was at WDW the last week of May and most of the first week of June in 2002 and it only rained once during the day and I think once or twicew at night. The weather was hot, but I like hot weather, so it didn't phase me. The crowds were large, but manageable. Who wants to be at an empty WDW park, anyway? Have a great time!
