***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

ugh now i am hungry again. i guess that bodes well for snacks in the evenings!
Haha! That's great!! :cool1: We had dinner with my in laws and I'm stuffed! I'm wondering how we will do... Probably eat less in buffets and more in actual sit down and order TS!

I'm not a skinny minnie either but I don't eat huge portions. I'm glad we're only doing two meals, I think that will help too. No way I could do 3. If I had a bigger breakfast this morning and then skipped lunch I prob would have been ready to eat by dinner. I am pretty good about self limiting at buffets but at sit down I feel like I need to clean my plate. I need to get out of that habit! You're right @LBlovesM&WDW ! I pretty much don't feel like I need to eat everything but I tend to overeat if it is in front of me. Though a lot of the restaurants we are hitting for TS have smaller portions for their main meals (if someone is complaining about portion size I put it on my list lol).
My husband is like that. He typically feels like he doesn't get his money's worth if the plate isn't clean. Thankfully his metabolism allows him to do that right now. At buffets I typically find it a nuisance to have to go back up repeatedly for food (exception is dessert)...

Like I've said before, I'll probably gain some of the baby weight I've lost (and knowing my luck, I'll end up preggo again, and then all bets are off! lol)

I'm not a big dessert person so I like buffets for that reason too. I almost always want a bite of two of something sweet but that is plenty. On the DDP I will be eating a bite or two of most desserts and leaving the rest. But at buffets I will just grab a mini thing or two and be done. I also use the old dieting trick "TNT" for buffets (things never touch). it really keeps portions in control. I am happy with a bite or two of this or that (am more of a grazer really) but a preplated meal gives me pressure to keep eating esp if it's good! I don't feel compelled to clean my plate for money reasons but if it tastes good and it is sitting in front of me I won't stop even when I should. If I serve myself I can make sure to serve myself things I can finish. I also always start buffets with a plate of salad/fruit and sometimes peel and eat shrimp. Most of our buffets are breakfast though which is kind of my downfall. Bacon and fruit is low carb isn't it? lol

Oh but that 'Ohana bread pudding. I have no discipline when it comes to that dessert (or any bread pudding really)... It makes those babies be born neked...:thumbsup2

Hi everyone wow this thread moves fast. So about me...

Travellers: Me (Jen), DH, and DD (age 6). Coming from Toronto.
Staying 12/2 - 12/9 at BC. We picked BC for a couple of reasons - proximity to Epcot and HS, Stormalong Bay, and the fact that we got a deal on the room. We originally had booked PoR but switched to Beach club because of the above reasons (though it was about double the cost of PoR.)

Memories of Disney - I went when I was about 4 in the late 70s, and my only memories were
1) being ignored by the Tigger character that was doing a meet and greet (I cried)
2) Not being able to go on the tea cup ride so I had to watch my older siblings go on it (I cried)
3) Going on the Dumbo ride (no crying).

Went again in the early 90s when Hollywood Studios had newly opened - just me and my parents. We drove do Florida and stayed in Kissimee in one of those cheap motels. My parents were pretty frugal so we made lunch and snacks every day to bring to the park. We did 3 days - one at MK, one at Epcot, one at HS. I loved it all but we did the "start early, end early" touring plan so I never saw MSEP, or Fireworks. No meals at the park either with the exception of Katsura Grill in Japan (TWICE IN ONE DAY. THANKS DAD). I still remember sitting near Pirates of the Carribean and feeling wiped. Also this is when I fell in love with the Enchanted Tiki Room. I have a thing for all things Tiki and it's my goal one day to stay at the Poly (just wasn't in our budget). But no Dole whip as my parents were pretty strict about what we could buy at the parks. I did buy with my own money a stuffed Figment dragon. I wish I knew where he ended up.

This is DH's and DDs very first time at Disney, which is why I'm so obsessed with planning it perfectly. And it's been so long since I've gone it feels brand new to me as well (so many of the rides I remember are GONE! I personally loved 20,000 leagues under the sea and I think I went on it 3 x I loved it that much).

@Lisa F I need a kitchen redo! But we have to renovate the front of the house this year.

I'm a doula - mainly postpartum - helping women when they come home from having their babies. I do day and night shift...day is easier but night pays better and is more popular. It's a tough slog being self employed and DH being on contract with the Government but we've been through a bad economic downturn (we both used to work in investments) so we're both grateful we have work.

I have a stuffed Figment!! I think I got him in 1990. He's probably still in my parents attic. You're going to be amazed at how much has changed! I had last gone to MK and EP in 1995 as a senior in high school and when I went back in 2014 I was blown away....all the awesome new stuff and yet all the nostalgia and magic from my trips with my family in the 80s and 90s.

I love desserts too! I could eat mostly just desert at a buffet
I am so bad. Every night have 2 scoops of mint chocolate chip ice cream. It's such a nice finisher for the day. In fact, if I don't eat dessert, I get hungry after dinner and want to snack.

I love bread pudding too. It is one of the desserts I DO love. and ice cream. but I am not into cakes and pies and cookies or any of that stuff. I do like creme brulee though! lol. But I would pick something salty/savory over sweet most times.

Oh I actually love those little cakes at bakeries that look too pretty to eat! :rotfl2: I'd sometimes buy a few and eat one (or two) a night. I would share with DH (and he would get mad at me...but eat it anyway:confused3 men!) Love ice cream too and we have a few pints at home :) I don't eat it every night though, just once in a while. At work, I'm usually the one that buys candies/ chocolates to put in the middle of our work area to share the love :rotfl:

OMG DxDDP guys. I had a protein shake for breakfast and kind of a big sandwich for lunch and just had tacos for dinner and could barely put away 2 small tacos. I think I am going to die on the DxDDP! :faint:

Oh goodness, that's never a problem for me! I do pace myself pretty well at buffets anymore though. I like to take small amounts and not have the food touching on the plate. I figure I can always go back up and it does seem to help me keep from stuffing myself too much. Generally though, I can put it away with the best of them! lol

Ha! I hadn't read this post yet when I posted about my buffet strategy. Great minds, huh? :hyper2:

My intro

My name Mallary (@Mal6586 how often does that happen)
Travel party if 3: DH and DS who will be turning 11
Staying at PPFQ. We have never stayed there, but heard good things.
arriving 12/1 departing 12/6.
Doing the party 12/1.
DS is way into Star wars, so all of that will happen, and anything else is fair game. I'm the thrill ride junkie, the othere not so much, so I often go solo on ride, like ToT.
It is my goal in life to get DS on that one. Hasn't happened yet, we got as far and the lobby last time and he panicked. So here's to hoping.

We've stayed at POFQ before and we loved it! We really liked that it was a small resort, and that it was centrally located. Also, the boat to DS was a nice way to spend some time away from the parks :)

Omg, I have to go through all the tips posted today!

I too, have been keeping a spreadsheet with multiple tabs. I have screenshots of all ADRs and cancellations and my main list of ADRs, calendar, and other To Do's. I have other links that I have emailed myself so I have to go back through those and compile. Also have to make snack list... and plan FPs... so much to do!

I don't think I mentioned, I'm on vacation next week in the Outer Banks. Leave Saturday and can't wait. Hope to catch up on some more planning

:beach:

Ooh, have a great time in OBX! I lived in VA when I was a kid and we used to visit all the time.

I love bread pudding too. It is one of the desserts I DO love. and ice cream. but I am not into cakes and pies and cookies or any of that stuff. I do like creme brulee though! lol. But I would pick something salty/savory over sweet most times.

I'm the same way...I would pick chips and dip over a cookie or cake. The only downfall I have is ice cream. Especially at Disney...it just doesn't feel like the day is complete without one!

what sucks is that I am not thin. at all. I eat a lot less than people would think, but i think my metabolism is screwy. I actually need to eat more and regularly and healthier and exercise and then it all works. But I get sick of eating :-p But I probably would not get sick of eating at disney, just sick FROM eating lol

Well, I am down about 50 pounds over what I weighed 3 years ago, but I'm struggling with the last 25 pounds or so I'd like to lose. Of course, I'm sitting here with a bowl of Cookies & Cream ice cream and that won't help anything. popcorn::

Oh man, just catching up on those posts made me hungry!!

I should preface that though by saying I got told at my yearly checkup that my cholesterol was creeping up, so I have totally revamped my eating habits in the last two weeks, and let me tell y'all... I know the definition of hangry now! I feel like the Hulk. "You wanna know my secret? I'm always hangry!"

If nothing else, having this trip to look forward to is keeping me sane. I can buckle down for the next few months knowing I get a big payoff when we go to Disney! Vacation food isn't bad for you!

I just love food. Especially carbs. If there is pasta at a buffet it is GAME OVER. I love sweets too. That's why I'm not on the dining plan...it would be porker time! Dh of course is thin and eats what he likes. We hope the walking will help! I often make a meal of a couple of appetizers and dessert. Same with dd. :)

Hmm I'm like your DH :duck: maybe that's why we're on the dining plan :rolleyes1 DH is always accused of stealing my food when I eat about the same amount as he does most of the time

I follow the paleo lifestyle and have lost 35lbs so far with hopes of, at least another 10-15 (plateaus royally s uck) in the next 12 weeks before we go. I'd be happy with that, but more would be amazing. I started walking in the early mornings and sometimes with M after he gets home from work to prepare for the walking and to help lose more weight. I will be ready for some yummy treats after being so good for so long and I love sweets!

@Mal6586 Try taking red rice yeast/red yeast rice (yeah they are the same) to lower your cholesterol.

@Iowamomof4 Congrats on your awesome weightloss!

Thanks! I'll look into that! I'm definitely trying whatever I can do myself to get it down. My obgyn basically said, "you're borderline right now, I'm giving you this next year to get it down because I believe you can, but if it's still like this next year or higher, I'll have to refer you to someone."

And I am so NOT prepared to need cholesterol maintenance medicine at 30, bad genes or not. So I'm getting my rear in gear!
