1st week in December

I hear that the first week in December is the busiest time for DVC, is this really true? Why? We are looking at going Nov 30 thru Dec 6 and want to stay at BLT studio LV. I know that they have it open right now should I book ASAP, or can I wait a little bit to make sure these are the dates we want.

This is out first time going on point, so I want to make sure we do it right. Thank you

Due to:
Holiday decorations being up.
Low point cost.
Better weather than summer.
Smaller crowds at the parks due to kids being in school.

DW and I have been every year since '93 the 2nd week of Dec.
Book now while you have availability.

We go around the same time every year. Not the day after Thanksgiving but the next Friday. This year it was the 6TH. That week is one of the slowest. I just booked our BLT TPV Studio this morning. Dec. 5TH to the 11TH. Great time to go.

If you want lakeview then you probably have about another month before you will possibly lose a day or 2 of a week long reservation at this time period. I am guessing standard view is already gone and theme park view will be gone very soon if it is not already. I know that last year by the end of January you could not book 5 days in a row during the 2nd week of Dec at BLT any view.

Yes, it's the most traveled week for DVC members, for the reasons stated above.

This year and next year it's even moreso because Thanksgiving is so late in the month of November.

Other reasons being Walts birthday and they always tape the Christmas parade in early December......
Holiday decor is a huge draw though......
Especially around that monorail line.

We went Nov 30 til Dec 7 and found it pretty crowded. Due to FP+ we actually got to ride any rides we didn't think we could get in without it. We really enjoyed the trip and are considering doing it again next Dec. If you want BLT I would book sooner rather than later though.

Pop Warner is usually the second week in Dec. I don't recall it being first week at any time.

OP, you should reserve now if you are member who owns at BLT. If you have to change dates later but keep many of the same days, it will be easier to drop a couple at one end and add at the other than book a whole new reservation. The first week of Dec is the highest DVC demand week of the year (Christmas week comes in second, and second week of Dec comes in third) and you really don't want to take chances on reserving unless you have no choice and there seems to be no downside to reserving now and trying to change later rather than just waiting until later and risk getting nothing.

I don't think IMO Pop Warner will be staying @ BLT. I think they stay closer to ESPN sports complex at an economy resort, you should be fine.

It has become more crowded each year, I would not consider it to be slow crowds anymore.

Disney's Pop Warner is always the weekend after the Thanksgiving weekend; i.e. 12/6/14 to 12/13/14. This is because they have the league playoffs for who will go to Pop Warner Thanksgiving weekend.

That's how I am able to remember it.

I just booked my BLT theme park view this morning. It's a great time of year to go as others have said, low points, kids are still in school so it is typically less crowded, and the holiday decorations are up.

Actually, in 2012 it was December 1 - 8 because Thanksgiving was so early that year. Several years ago a Pop Warner parent said on here that playoffs always occur during the Thanksgiving weekend with the next weekend being Disney's Pop Warner. And that has stayed true all these years.
