During the last week in December DH and I got the opportunity to take our boys ages 2 1/2 and 4 1/2 to WDW for a week very inexpensively, so we jumped on it. We will be staying in a 1BR at Old Key West from 1/17 - 1/24. After reading about the crowds expected for MLK weekend, and reading the Unofficial Guide, I've sketched out an itinerary for the week. We will have 5 day Hopper Plus passes.
Since this will be a first trip for all of us, we're trying to see a lot without wearing anyone out.
Sat- Arrive in airport about 4pm. Pick up rental car, stop by grocery store, arrive for check in approx 6pm. Get into the Disney spirit by either trying to schedule the Hoop De Doo show for 715pm or if not available (which is probable) the character dinner at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian. Since we are coming from CA, we'll be on Pacific time, so a later dinner will be okay.
Sun- Epcot Start early and arrive before park opens. Tour Future world and attractions. Probably return to hotel for lunch/nap, then return for World Showcase and Illuminations. Dinner at Biergarten that evening.
Mon- Due to the overwhelming response that this is the busiest day at WDW, we will go offsite and explore Gatorland. Kids will have a ball and it will be a relaxing pace. Return to resort in afternoon for. Maybe head to Downtown Disney in evening or another attempt for Hoop De Doo.
Tues- Animal Kingdom Planning to spend entire day here with no breaks since park closes so early. Should we do lunch at Rainforest Cafe? If yes, should we buy vouchers? Since we'll be done fairly early this is another night we can attempt Hoop De Doo. Or if the kids are worn out, a quiet dinner and movie in resort.
Wed - MGM studios I'm still figuring this park out, but I think we'll try the Fantasmic dinner package. (Restaurant suggestions?) Undecided about breaking during the day, or just taking advantage of all the shows as mini-breaks.
Thurs - Free Day. Perhaps go back to Epcot, or if warm enough, Blizzard Beach. We'll probably leave this open until we start the trip. Another good day to attempt Hoop de Doo
Friday - Magic Kingdom. Since the boys have been to Disneyland several times, I'm not as concerned about getting through every ride here. We'll be sure to hit the ones we don't have like Buzz Lightyear and probably the Magic Carpets. We'll stay for Wishes fireworks. Unsure about where for dinner here...
Saturday- Check out, (boo hoo) Character Breakfast at Chef Mickey's. Head back to airport.
