We've been to WDW several times and I am very familiar with non-Disney attractions in the Orlando area. We like to go for about 10 days and not only go to the Disney parks but do other things like beaches, a ball game and shopping. I'm looking for some help with DL. Where can I find a listing of sporting events for the time frame of Feb 21 to 28, 2008? How close is a mall with stores like Bath and Body works? With the Canadian dollar high I'd love to get in some extra clothes shopping, as would my 15 yr old DD.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I am not sure about the sports in the area, but I think the Angels baseball team plays close by(Although I don't think it's baseball season in Feb.). You can go to ticketmaster.com and they should have that info there. And you'll be able to by tickets right from the website.

Also there is a brand new mall opening up right on Katella. I think it might be open by February. But someone else might know more about it than I do. It is supposed to be a very nice mall, and is rumored that Disney might be putting two hotels connected to either side of the mall.

I hope that helps a little. :)

hi there, we just got back on monday from 10 nights in anaheim...we are a family of 5, me, dh, dd-16, ds-14, and dd-12...we live in bc...we did 5 days in disneyland, my husband and son did a hockey game-canucks vs the ducks-unfortunately the canucks had their butts kicked, we did a day at newport beach-it was awesome, we rented a car and it was about a 40 minute drive-the beach was beautiful and the boardwalk had some great little shops, we did a day at knotts soak city(it was awesome but i dont think they would be open when u are there), and we did a shopping day-i highly recommend main place mall-we caught the city bus there and back and cost us 12.50 total for the 5 of us...have fun, i wish we were still there

Thanks for your help. Now I'm wondering how much you have to plan. It seems at Disneyworld people have spreadsheets with all the day's details. That's not my thing -- we like to go with the flow so to speak. Is Disneyland the same -- should I plan or "wing it"?

If you were just doing DLR then you'd not need to plan as much as WDW, but since you want to do other attractions in SoCal.... then you'll need to sit down and figure out where you'll go, on what day, how long its going to take you and when you'll need a car, etc.. And you will most likely need to rent a car if you want any spontaneity.

In terms of malls, if you want to see how OC beautiful people shop, then make a stop at Fashion Island or South Coast Plaza. I always recommend Balboa which is very near Fashion Island in Newport Beach; its a cutesy California place with a short ferry that goes across a bay.
