Well I need some help from those vetrans out there. I am getting together my final shopping list to send to Marge from WeGoShop for our trip in 29 days!! I have a family of 4 myself, DH, DS5, and DS1. We will be staying in a studio. We plan on eating mainly dinners out and a few character lunches or breakfasts. So, I was going to order stuff up for breakfast and lunch for us. I understand that in the studio there are only paper plates and bowls. Do I need to put additional ones on my shopping list??

Also, what other things do you absolutely have to have on your shopping list that first timers may over look?

Thank you to all in advance for your responses.

It is my understanding that you can get additional paper plates/bowls from mousekeeping. (I just haven't done it, but you can.) I bring my own Glad bowls to use for cereal bowls and as storage containers. The utensils are plastic...I also bring a sharp pen-knife and cutting board when I stay in a studio. I buy fruit and like to make a fruit salad.

I think you can ask for extra paper plates, etc. when you get there, but I haven't ever done that. It makes sense to me that you can ask for more supplies that DVC provides.

If you drink coffee, you'll want coffee filters, but get them ahead of time and pack them yourself. Traditional basket-style filters are what you need.

I'm glad coffee was mentioned. The pack that we did get in our studio at AKV was just a small pack, not even the 8-12 cup filter pack that you get at the other DVC's. I always bring a supply of my own, but yes, if you want to make coffee for yourselves, bring what you need.

Yes, you can get additional paper goods. :thumbsup2

You might want to bring a box of Dixie cups; the studio comes with 4 glasses and 2 coffee cups. If your family drinks a lot of juice or soda, you'll be constantly washing those glasses (IIRC, they're large, maybe 12 oz.).

Being coffee drinkers, we also bring along large travel mugs; the cups provided are weeny, and we'd be continuously refilling them. :)

Have a wonderful time at AKV! Hope you get a chance to post a trip report.

Our AKV studio had 4 ceramic cups (a first for us in a studio) however, they were very small mugs!!! I'll bet they held about 4-6 oz each, filled to the brim. Cute design.

In all the years we've been in studios, we've never had 4 mugs! :sad2: Maybe they have "upgraded" the supplies at AKV (but wouldn't 2 larger ones have been preferable? :confused3). To me they're large expresso cups! What kind of design was on them? We've only had Fiestaware kind of mugs.
Can't wait until our January stay at AKV, in a studio, but CL. :yay: Do you think CL level villas will be supplied the same as non-CL ones?

Yes, I would have preferred 2 larger mugs. As far as designs, I think it was more the color, sand color like the tiles that just struck me as being nice. In the studio, I know pictures have shown the tiles, with 2 cute animals...I think it was just the whole picture that got to me, the design was something around near the rim, subtle, maybe a line, sorry I just can't remember.

I also pack two wine glasses (or buy them once I'm at WDW) since I can't stand drinking win out of paper or a mug ... even if it is cheap box wine! I thjnk that I once had a pair of glasses delivered too.

The ceramic cups are the same size in the 1BRs, too...

That's a great idea! For us, we usually wind up buying coffee mugs to take home with us, but start using them when we're there.
