Still not sure where to post this - hopefully someone with DVC experience can help...(we have stayed numerous times at the GCH)

1. Where do you check in?

2. Do you get magical morning privileges, we were told yes when we bought, but the website now looks like it is a no?

3. This may be a stupid question from a first time time-share owner, but do you have to leave the place spotless, or just reasonably clean when you leave???

Sorry - I know Disneyland 110% but this DVC has me all stressed out!!!

Any other tips/advice or ANYTHING would be absolutely appreciated!!! :flower3:

We have not stayed in the VGC yet but I think the check in is the same for VGC and the GC hotel. I would double check on this though. I also would assume that you get to use the EMH's since you are staying on property.

As far as when you check out and cleaning the room, here are my thoughts. We have stayed in countless timeshares and this is our routine. We throw all of the towels into the bathtub. We throw all trash into a trash can. If we have too much trash, we will take a trash bag out and fill it and leave it in the kitchen. We also make sure that all dishes are in the dishwasher and we turn it on. Other than that, there really isn't anything else we do. We don't make the beds or wipe down the counters.

Hope this helps.

You check in at the front desk like any other guest at GCH

Yes you do

personal preference, we left it semi-tidy, but did not make beds. since we only had one night, we did not use any dishes

We just stayed in a studio 2 weekends ago, you're going to LOVE it!

You check in at the hotel check in desk. Look to your left and you will see a door just past the concierge desk. Walk past the pool, past the arcade and into a small lobby area with the elevators. (Please note the cadenzas on each floor, some are different. My DH loved the one on the first floor)

Not sure on the magical mornings, although I think you do if you have a room key and ticket. We have APs so haven't done any of those mornings.

We leave our DVC room with towels piled in one place, kitchen sink rinsed out, and my DH will take out the trash the night before we leave, just to be sure there's nothing gross in the trash (this is during long stays at WDW) and pulls out all the trash bins to be sure they get cleaned out.. Our feelings are that we don't like waiting until past 4 pm to get our villa so anything that will help Mousekeeping get the villa ready means someone doesn't have to wait a long time.

Have a magical time!

although its not a dvc board if you go over to the california boards their is a long february trip board with a lot of helpful information and tips of things to do in february...

magical mornings are sundays, tuesdays, thursdays, and saturdays..you get one during your stay..

..cleaning the room is up to you...i never leave it dirty because it never gets dirty...(just a studio)...its your choice what you want to do and don't want to do...have phone on your trip

Awesome - thanks for all the feedback. I have stayed at DH's parents timeshare, and you have to leave it immaculate or face a fee (vacuum, haul out all trash, etc.) so I just wanted to check.

One more stupid question - does the room offer standard toiletries??? Also, is there a place to purchase laundry soap for the washer???

Thanks again for all the feedback :goodvibes

Shampoo, Cond, soap and body wash are all provided. I think they also provide 1 box of laundry soap. Have you checked out the purex laundry sheets? They are reasonably priced and are a 3 in 1 laundry sheet. We packed these last year and they worked great. We bought them at Walmart.

We stayed in a 2 bdrm in December - and yes, they are gorgeous!

You check in at the hotel lobby. During peak season, I was told they will have a separate check in area for DVC only at the Guest Services desk but since you are not in peak season, just go to the regular check in.

You get MM privileges as a DLR hotel guest any morning that it is offered - even if you are an AP (we are). Just show your room card key - they have your name and dates on them.

We put all the dishes in the dishwasher and start it, leave towels in the bathtubs and wipe counters if they are dirty.

You get the same toiletries as the hotel - H2O spa products (Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash, Lotion and Soap) and they are replenished on the fourth day along with towels (if you stay less than 8 days). They also provide paper towels, small container of dish soap and dishwasher soap (we had plenty for our 4 night stay) and enough clothes washer soap for one load. None of those items are replenished.

Hope that helps.

We take out the trash, and recycling, and wash all the dishes we used the night before. All the towels go in the tub, anything to make the room available faster for the next guest, even vacuuming.
As a kid we stayed at a vacation cabin rental, and my mom always made sure the place was as spotless as when we arrived. That was part of the rental agreement. We all had cleaning chores on the day we left.

Top tip...

You need to bring you own coffee filters...if you forget you can buy some at the quick service restaurant.

Loved our stay there. Are you driving in? The self-park lot is across the street from the main entrance. We drove to the front and checked in, then unloaded, then moved our car into self parking lot.

Besides the usual soap, shampoo and coffee, another amenity our studio had...two luxurious Grand California robes hanging in the closet! We also had a view of California Adventure and were able to watch late night rehearsals of the new color/music thing that is coming. The pool area is great. If you get a chance take the tour about the hotel...really interesting and fun!

Enjoy your stay...
