1st Trip to DLRP...tips??

Hi!! We've just booked our first trip to DLRP for November 08 to celebrate my 30th birthday! We're taking our 2 little ones who will be 3 years 10 months & 1 year 9 months. I'm so excited!!!

We're flying to CDG airport & staying in the Cheyenne for 3 nights.

Any tips on where to eat & what activities will be suitable and fun for our kids will be much appreciated. Please share your experience!

I would definately recommend the character breakfast at Cafe Mickey, it is a much better way for the kids to meet the characters without all the queueing to meet them in the park.
Our 4 year old loved all the rides in Fantasyland, so we spent a lot of time there, and then in the afternoons when the park gets busy and she gets tired, we went back to the hotel for a swim.

Hi Your chilren will love 'Its a small world' but be aware that the Snow White ride is pretty dark and is focused more on the Queen/witch than the dwarves and Snow White and my children (DD7 and DS3) were not too keen on it!

Given the ages of your 2 I'd make good use of Extra magic Hour (EMH) which allows you into the park 2 hours before normal park opening. This will allow you to get on a number of rides in Fantasyland without hour long queues at Dumbo for example.
You'll probably want to have a buggy for your little one. I'd also consider hiring a buggy for your 3 year old as children can flag quite easily with all the walking.

I'd concur with thinking about a character meal We prefer lunch or supper as it is not that much more expensive than breakfast. Just could not eat that much food first thing in the morning

Ask about Good Morning Fantasyland Breakfast (GMFB) when you check in. This gives the option to have a breakfast in the park rather than at the Cheyenne

I would also suggest that you gear the trip around your kids - personally I think that asking your kids to hang around while one of the adults goes on a fast ride is asking for trouble - they will get bored and kranky! We found that if she was having a snack or asleep in the buggy and we were near a ride with a short queue, DH could sneak in a quick ride (I was pregnant anyway), but we got just as much pleasure from seeing her enjoy herself (even if it did mean going on Small Small World 4 times).

Hi Again, thanks everyone for your replies. Lots of good information to take on board. I think the holiday will be for the kids really...like you say Hollytigs you get so much from their pleasure anyway! They are so into Mickey Mouse Clubhouse at the moment which made the decision for me really to spend my birthday in DLRP...they're going to love it. These boards are getting me so excited !!

Will look into the character breakfasts etc & also the buggy hire for 3 yo as I think he may need it!

Just wanted to say I love your name! My dd (2) is mad about Mickey Mouse clubhouse and although her speech isn'r great yet, the one thing she says clearly is "Oh Toodles!"
We brought her and ds (5) for the first time in April this year and had a brilliant time. Would def bring a buggy for your 3 year old, even our 5 year old found the walking hard at times.

My 16 month old boy has just started saying 'Oh Toodles' too! It's so cute.

Infact that's why I've booked to take him to Disneyland Paris in October

Tips....we don't have children, so can't really offer any tips there - but I can offer a few general tips:

Buy water/juice/coke at the garage or shop in the railway station, and take in with you. Even if it doesn't last all day, you'll at least have something to drink that didn't cost the earth. Same goes for snacks, fruit etc.

Bring waterproofs and HATS - not umbrellas; these are a nightmare!

Paracetamol, plasters, sore throat sweets and so on - useful to have these in your bag just in case.

If you want a rest and don't want to walk all the way back to the Cheyenne remember you can go into the Disneyland Hotel and use the facilities there - even if its just a sit down on a comfy sofa!

It can be hot inside attractions even if freezing cold outside. Wear lots of layers so you don't swelter in long queues.

If its really freezing the best place for a warm up is POTC!

Hey there!

I would agree with a character meal at Cafe Mickey, but I would recommend it for lunchtime- It's quieter but with enough bustle to make it lively. Plus, the food is fantastic. We also loved The Rainforest Cafe and Annettes Diner when we were at DLRP. However, I wouldn't recommend Planet Hollywood at all- The food was terrible and we were shoehorned in tables that made us sit closer than we would with friends and family!!

I have to admit I avoided the Snow White ride like the plague.... I have a morbid fear of the Hag!! Your boys will probably like 'Buzz Lightyears Laser Blast' (Might need help aiming for the targets!), the Orbitron and Peter Pan's Flight.

Also, the Disney studios is good for character spotting (Or at least it was when we went!) and it was nice to go for a look around. Not sure theres a lot of rides you could all go on, but it's worth going for a look!

Great advice thanks! Def going for the buggy option for 3yo. We have a doubler so not sure whether to take our own or just take DDs and hire one for DS.

Our DD loves 'toodles' too....and loves to shout Oh Toodles all the time as well (also one of the reasons we decided to book this trip). DS is into all things Disney but she mainly loves the Clubhouse and asks for toodles on the TV all the time...hoping the obsession lasts til november!

Its good to know that you can use the facilites in the Disneyland Hotel, I didn't know that...does anyone know if you are able to use the pools in the hotels that have them?

Unfortunately not, you can visit any of the hotels to have a drink in the bar, a meal in the restaurant or just a wander round but you're only able to use the pool if you're actually staying at the hotel.

That's on my must do list for this trip. I've been so many times and never looked round the DLH!!

My little man has started to shout for 'toodles' if we are trying to get him dressed or change his nappy etc. He thinks 'toodles' will bring him a mousketool to help him

I would deffo do EMH to do the rides in Fantasyland, also book a character meal as the scrums in the park are a bit scary for little ones. My DD2 nearly got crushed last time by a adult while trying to see Eeyore.
Also check out Animagique in WDS, fantastic for everyone of any age. I'm also sure your little ones will like Cars in the studios aswell.
