1st Trip to DLR ~ Pre-Trip Report ~ So excited!!

Today marks 60 days until my family will be at the DLR!!! So I called vacation planning to start making my dining reservations... plus some fun stuff that I learned about on this board!!

The cast is me DH, twin DS4, and my Mom... so 5 in total!

We are arriving Monday 8-6 and staying through Friday 8-10... so 4 nights and we are staying at the DLH. We purchased a 3 day park hopper... going to the park Tues - Thursday. Since we are staying athe the DLH we will do EE on Tu and Th and we have a pass for toon town on Wed!

For character ,meals we are doing Goofy's Dinner the day night we get in.. We arrive at noon at the John Wayne airport and plan on taking the super shuttle to the hotel.... check in our bags and then go to DTD to get autograph books and look around. I requested autograph pics and first time pins frpm VP and they said they would be at the front desk when we checked in!!! Each DS is getting a pic of the Fab Five

Our reservations for dinner are at 5 pm... our hope is to hit the pool in the early evening... at 8:30 pm I scheduled for a delivery of milk and cookies for the boys. A card will be attached that says "Adam & Alex, Welcome to Disneyland! Love Your Disney Pals" I had requested that it be signed from Mickey but VP said it couldn't be from a specific character.... wierd...

On Tuesday we have reservations for the Rain Forest Cafe for Dinner..... then Thursday we have a characterbfast - Minne and Friday, the day we leave we are doing Goofy's bfast at the hotel... our flight is at 1 pm.

Our park plan is to go early each day... the earliest entry we can do for each day.... have fun until lunch... eat somewhere around 11:30.... head back to the DLH and NAP!!!! get up and maybe hit the pool... maybe do the remote control boats... but hang around the hotel... eat dinner... then hit the parks again... do some rides... the parade... whatever tickles our fancy. We will probable head to CA on Wed when it opens.

Oh!! We are ordering some groceries from Albertsons the Sunday before we arrive so they will arrive Monday... the plan is to schedule a delivery around 8 pm.. that is a great tip we got from this board!!!

Quick question on the EE.... can I take the monorail in? What time should I plan on being in line???

I love how detailed your plan is! Have your boys been to DLR before or will this be their first trip? I have always loved Disney but now that I have two little ones (DS6 and DD3.5) it is even more amazing.

This is thier first visit! I went mayb 20 years ago for one afternoon... so I really consider this to be a first visit for me as well. I am trying to put just a little structure in the vacation... but as far as rides and hopping between the parks... and lunchs... we are going to try and be flexible and just do what sounds good! We are all so excited!!! Question.... do you still us a stroller for your kids?

Yes, I still use a stroller! What is nice at DLR is that they let you take the stroller from park to park.

My son is very tall for his age. He used a stroller until he was about 5. He would walk most of the time and then hop in when he was tired. We got a lot of looks from people but I ignored them. He just looks older than he is due to his size. He turned six this week and is 53" tall.

I would suggest at least one stroller so that maybe they could take turns. We will still get a stroller for my daughter on our upcoming October trip. She will be 3, turning 4 later in the month and is 43" tall.

My kids don't nap but I would think even with a mid-day nap, all that walking would be exhausting for a little one. I always try to remember that they are taking 2-3 steps for every one of mine.
