Hi. An early "welcome to California" for you!
Most theme parks are easier to deal with in terms of crowds on weekdays - Mon to Wed often best. Always best to arrive right at opening to get the max number of marquee rides with the shortest lines. Are you coming early Aug or late Aug? That can also make a difference because crowds definitely lighten at DL later in the month when people turn their attention toward getting the kids back in school. Have a great trip!
