1st Trip (of many!) as Mr. & Mrs.--the TR-- UPDATE 9/9: Life Update--We're Moving!!

Great update, Staci! I love that picture of you getting jealous of Michael flirting with Tink! :rotfl:
Can't wait to read about Boma! YUM!!

Great update! When I saw FOTLK, I wanted to be that blue bird SO badly!!! She was so graceful and beautiful. We really like Nemo too. I've seen the Lion King musical (in Toronto) and they do the same thing with actors/dancers and puppets. Actually, I don't even notice the actor after awhile. The puppets are so amazing and the control they have over them is incredible. On our first trip to AK last Jan, we left the park around 3pm too! We had done everything we wanted and we had the rest of the day to just relax and swim.

I HEART YOUR UPDATES, STACI!!!!!

We love the Lion King show too! I have never thought of the fact that it is not really the Lion King story. I could see how he was confused.

Your photopass pics are awesome!!!! The one in front of EE that is an antique type of pic is the best! Love it. Also, the one where your DH has tinkerbell literally made me laugh out loud! :lmao: So creative!

EE is my favorite, but I get SO scared before I get on! I had to ride ALONE this trip b/c the kids could not go on (obviously) so I had to pump myself up that I could do it! I must know, HOW did you hold onto your camera?! I am so impressed! I have to grip the heck out of the bar in front of me...much like the little girl in front of you

OK girl, you are SO smart!!! Tell me how do you share photopass CDs? What an amazing idea. Love it!

Also, if you would not mind (I know it is a lot to ask) but how did you rent DVC points? That might be something worth looking into. Sounds like it saves LOTS of money!

Nemo looks great! We had to skip it on our last trip and still have not seen it  I am super excited to see it, though, and you def. confirmed to me that we would love it!!

I just adore your TR and can not wait to hear about your dinner!

Great updates, as always. I love, love the photos in fromt of EE! The one you had framed is a beautiful shot. You guys really take some fantastic shots. Since we have the same camera, I hope we get some great shots too. I am so excited to try out FOTLK since we've never seen it before. Can't wait to hear about your dinner at Boma - we have an ADR there and haven't been there before. Glad to hear that you are feeling better.

I have to say I get so excited when I see you've updated your TR! I have no idea what I am going to do when you finish. I loved your pictures on Everest! I am to scared that I will drop my camera on rides.

Great update Stace!! LOVE the Lion King and Finding Nemo shows. The first time I ever saw the FOTLK, it was the year the AK first opened and the costumes for the Tumble Monkeys hadn't come yet, everyone else's had, so everytime I see that show, I always remember the silly red spandex they had on! :rotfl: And the other cool thing to is that all of the monkeys are retired Olympic Gymnasts, how awesome is that?! You get to still do what you love AND you're at disney!

Can't wait to see your dinner at Boma! :thumbsup2

Hey Jess! How's it going? Thanks! Oh goodness--I love them too. That is HILARIOUS! I bet they were cracking up inside the whole time--red spandexed monkeys!! Really? I had no clue they're retired Olympic Gymnasts! That would explain why they're so talented. I couldn't imagine doing something like that. I'm pretty sure that we're serious about wanting to retire and then go work at Disney--I can't imagine a better retirement job! I'll try to do another update soon.

Another fantastic update! :thumbsup2

I love love love Festival of the Lion King, although I can see what Michael is saying if you were expecting something like the Beauty & the Beast show. But I love the performances at FoLK because it reminds me of a Cirque du Soliel show. The monkeys are amazing!!

And I love your Everest pictures! I wish I was brave enough to keep the camera out, but if anyone was going to drop their camera off a Disney rollercoaster, it would so be me!

Thanks Kristy!! Yeah, I should have warned him--I love it for the same reasons! It's just amazing how they can all do those different things. Yeah, the monkeys are incredible. Thanks! I just tightened the wrist strap, linked my arm through Michael's, and then held onto it with both hands. Haha--I was so glad I didn't!

Another great update!

For some reason FotLK and Finding Nemo always make me cry ~ no matter how many times I see them. Two of my favorites in all of WDW!

Our kids did the photo holding Simba and had no idea what the PP guy was telling them to do so they turned out hilarious. Y'alls pictures are always so good.

Thanks so much! I know what you mean--Disney just draws the tears out of people! They are both incredible shows. AK always seems to be people's least favorite park, but it really does have amazing shows. Haha--that's so funny! We actually asked him if he had any Magic Shots, and he told us it was the Baby Simba one before we took it. We were prepared! Thanks. :)

Great update, Staci! I love that picture of you getting jealous of Michael flirting with Tink! :rotfl:
Can't wait to read about Boma! YUM!!

Thanks!! Haha--isn't that funny? We were laughing when she told us what to do. We were SUPER excited to try Boma! I'll try to update soon.

I absolutely love that Nemo Show!:lovestruc

You guys were so smart to take advantage of the PhotoPass Photographers (and the share!). When DH and I were there we didn't utilize the PhotoPass and as a result we don't have a lot of pictures of the two of us. Your's turned out so great.:thumbsup2

Thanks! Oh my goodness--I bet! I wanted to be her, and I'm not even a dancer!! She's so, so graceful. Oh wow. I've always wanted to see The Lion King musical! I hear it's incredible. I think that the actor/puppet combination is so neat--I found myself focusing on different things at different times. I can't imagine having to act, sing, and control a puppet at the same time! :thumbsup2 It's a perfect short day park. We loved not being rushed to get everything in.

I just adore your TR and can not wait to hear about your dinner!

Aw, thanks Katie!! I'm so glad you like reading it so much--it's been fun to write! He liked it, it just caught him off-guard. It's still one of my favorites, though!! Thanks! We loved finding PP photographers all over. Do you have Photoshop? Because I could send you a link to where I downloaded the free actions to make it look antique, etc. I've used it on a lot of my pics in my TR. I love that the CM told me to act all mad--it turned out so funny!

Haha--thanks! I tightened the wrist strap for my camera, linked arms with Michael, and then held the camera with both hands. The first time we rode it, I just wanted to enjoy it, but then I wanted some pics! Aw, I wouldn't have liked riding it alone either! I always hated it when a group of friends would go to Six Flags and we'd be an odd number and we'd have to take turns riding solo. It's just not as fun!!

I'd heard about Photopass Shares on the DIS, and I'd tried to share with different people, but none of them worked out. So it was SUCH a great thing when I found those families that wanted to share. You just get one person to be the one to set up the account (I did for ours). You know how you enter your PP card ID? Well, I did that when I set up our account, and then I emailed the other two ladies my log in and password (I used a PW I don't use on anything else). Then they went on and clicked "Add more Photopass ID cards" or something like that. They put their ID #s in, and then it uploaded their pics too. Then we all three edited our different pictures, and emailed each other when we were finished. The gallery CD was being offered free, so we got that too. After we were finished, I went on, ordered the CD & had it shipped to me. I emailed them and told them what they owed me (split the total price 3 ways), and they sent me a check for the cost. When I got the CD in, I opened it up on our computer, put all of their pictures in a file, and burned them each a copy. I also burned the gallery CD since we got that free. Then I mailed it to them, and it was done! It takes a lot of communication, but it's VERY worth it! :thumbsup2

Renting DVC points is the greatest thing ever!! Seriously. We love it. My aunt and cousin have each gone on trips by renting since we did--and they LOVE it too!! Our entire room cost for our 6 nights was only $560!!! You can't beat it. I'll PM you with more details.

I think your family would love Nemo--it's a long show, but it's just fantastic. I'll hopefully update about Boma soon!!

Great updates, as always. I love, love the photos in fromt of EE! The one you had framed is a beautiful shot. You guys really take some fantastic shots. Thanks Ann! We were SOO impressed with those shots! They look like they're in some exotic place. Isn't that camera the greatest little point-and-shoot? I love it. It does a lot, but it's a lot easier to carry around than a professional camera. I learned a lot about the different settings through trial and error on our trip. I need to sit down and study it some more. Oh goodness--you will LOVE FOTLK!!! It's so great. I'll try to update about Boma soon. We were super excited to try it since it was my cousin's family's favorite. Thanks.

I have to say I get so excited when I see you've updated your TR! I have no idea what I am going to do when you finish. I loved your pictures on Everest! I am to scared that I will drop my camera on rides.

Aw, thanks! I love updating--I wish I had time to do it more often. I have no clue what I'll do when I finish either!! Especially since we don't have another trip coming up... I have a feeling the Disney bug will really hit me then! I'm probably nuts for taking it on rides, but it was fun to be able to take the pictures! Thank goodness for wrist straps.

Great updates! I love your "magic" shots, even if your fingers are freakishly long! :lmao:

Thanks! Haha--they were ridiculously long! :rotfl:

I absolutely love that Nemo Show!:lovestruc

Isn't it just incredible?! We absolutely loved it too!! My family had never taken advantage of it before, but we decided that we wanted to since we seemed to be getting some good shots. Now I'm SOOO glad we did!! They've been some of our favorite shots. I'm sorry you didn't get many of the two of you. I know how frustrating it can be to only have the "hold your arm out and shoot" pictures. It's awesome that they have the PP option now!

Thank you Staci

I am wanting to book our December trip in May, so I am trying to price out stuff right now. Sending me info on renting points would be AWESOME! How safe is it? I am just worried that we would get there and our ressie would not be valid or something like that.

I LOVE LOVE the Photopass CD share! :thumbsup2 Being that we will be there with my in-laws and sister/brother in-law, we can all just share. You just saved us all lots of money :woohoo:

You're so welcome!! I love sharing these money-saving tips! :goodvibes I'll send you a booklet thing that explains some precautionary measures to take to make sure it's safe. I've never had a bad experience with it! I just finished renting for my cousin, and she's staying at the AKL for less than she could stay at POP. Ours was the same way. My aunt stayed at OKW for less than a value too. I was worried about it too, but they give you a confirmation number, and you can call Disney Dining and give them that number, and if it's legit, it'll show up in their system. It's just like if you booked through them--you use that confirmation number.

That'll be SOO perfect to share with your family!! It'll save big time, and then you can all take whatever PP pics you want, and you'll have everyone's. If you have more q's about how to do it when the time comes, just ask! So glad I could help! :goodvibes

You have the best updates! :) Always so many pictures and so detailed! I love the FOTLK show! I saw it a couple years ago, I was in the warthog section. :rotfl: The Nemo show is great too!

Love the PP pictures of you guys in front of Everest. They came out great!

Part of me is terrified of the Tree of Life. Besides the fact that there is a buffalo carved in it (in my opinion, one of the scariest animals that God has ever created!), I'm afraid that I'll be looking at a cute animal and not even realize that there's a creepy one right next to it staring back at me! I have a thing with animals if you couldn't tell from my reaction from a tree!

Your hand does look unnaturally long in that Tink pic! It's a little spatula-like! I'm sure they altered it when they were adding Tink.

Good shot of the safari vehicle from the front! It's a new angle, and I like that the luggage and gear is noticeable!

Hehe, I like this comment you made: One of the moms danced her heart out—I think it must have been pent-up dance moves from the last 15 years. It really captures the magic!

Your comment about Pocahontas is so true! I was talking about a few of the classic Disney movies in school (I always give Disney-esque sentences when teaching new vocabulary words), and half of my 6th graders were like, "I've never seen that movie before." What kind of education are these kids getting these days?!? I think I should teach a Disney class at least once a week~

Aww, I missed voting in the contest! I've been away from DIS for a while because life has gotten a little hectic with 2 new students. Is there a link for the video so I can watch it now?

I wish we were too!! But I'm looking forward to San Antonio this summer too...it'll be good. I KNOW! I hope we make it up there! We're looking at next summer (not this coming one, but the next) going either to Colorado or to a beach in Florida. I'll keep you updated. It is so nice to look at our frames and actually see pictures instead of the "pictures" of the families, dogs, kids, etc. that come with the frames! :upsidedow

YAY!!! That's so exciting that you're renting points!!!! You will LOVE it! I just helped my cousin rent for the first time. It's the greatest ever. Haha--I just saw you wrote practically that same thing. I'll have to go over and check up on your PTR!

I know you will keep me updated!! I just love trips!! I would personally rather go to a beach in FL than come to CO!! But who knows, maybe you could see me there too! (More on that in my next letter! ;)) I always hate looking at strangers in picture frames! I'm glad you've got that all taken care of.

Lauren has been kind enough to take care of all the renting for the Dec. trip but I really want to rent points for the Boardwalk for my 21st!! So we will need to talk about all the tips and tricks for that! (P.S. You are definitely invited to that if you could somehow squeeze in a trip. You DO have a birthday right around that time as well!)

It's ok! We were still happy he made it that far. Haha--I know! Michael said, "Why don't we have kids?? Maybe I could win then!" :rotfl:

This is why you guys need to live closer! I would've let him borrow Landon! :rotfl:

Hehe, I like this comment you made: One of the moms danced her heart out—I think it must have been pent-up dance moves from the last 15 years. It really captures the magic!

I LOVED that caption too! Hilarious!

Oh my goodness Staci...I am totally afraid of ovens too. How crazy!! I don't really have as good of a reason as you to be, just always have been. That's the main reason why I hate cooking...I just don't like being in such close contact with something that I can feel the heat so strongly from and could very severely burn me!! It freaks me out!

FOtLK is AMAZING!! I can see how Michael would be let down though if he were expecting the actual story-especially since its one of his favorites!! Still such an awesome show! I really loved it! I would be so confused with what sound a giraffe makes too! I was in the lion section!

Oh my goodness...I totally FAILED at PhotoPass at AK. Your pictures turned out so good-as usual! You and Michael look so cute with baby Simba! I love it. The one where you were mad at him for flirting with Tink was great! That's definitely one of the more creative ones!! :woohoo: I love it!

Can't wait for more!!

Hi there, just started reading your TR, really enjoying it so far! We just booked our trip to AKV for Oct and your TR is really making me excited. Not sure if anyone told you this already but those 'rocks' you saw in the gift shop are actually Ostrich eggs from the animals at the lodge and park, they have professionals paint them. Even more amazing huh! :)

Love the PP pictures of you guys in front of Everest. They came out great!

Aw, thanks Jenny! They're so much fun to write! I'm going to go insane when this is finally over... We might HAVE TO go to Disney then! :upsidedow Haha--I always laugh at the warthogs. Thanks! We really liked those too!

You could never make it in Oklahoma! Our state animal is the buffalo  I love looking at all of the animals--scary or not. But I can definitely see where you're coming from! That's it--a spatula! I knew it looked like something weird! :rotfl: Thank you. I wanted to take a pic of the car we were about to get in... We were cracking up at that mom! It was awesome. I'm just impressed that she'd get out and shake it like that. Only at Disney!

Are you serious?! I can't believe that 6th graders haven't seen Pocahontas! My sister is in 7th, and it was her favorite movie. Our entire family was SOOO sick of that movie because she wanted to watch it every single day. I know--they aren't being taught anything about the good ol' movies! Michael and I watched The Little Mermaid, Snow White, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Cool Runnings, and The Three Cabelleros this past week and a half. I don't know what I'd do without the old movies! I would love to teach a Disney class too! I bet your students love you since you love Disney!

That's ok! He had a lot of fun with it, though. Um, it's on YouTube....I can't find the link now since I'm at work and it's blocked, but you might be able to find it if you search for "KLOVE contest + Jars of Clay + Michael + Love Song for a Savior" or some combination of that. :thumbsup2

I think we're pretty sure that we're going to go to FL. I was looking into going to Disney's Vero Beach resort, but it's on the Atlantic side, and we might want to go to the Gulf side since those beaches are so much prettier. We'll see. I think we want to see if Michael's parents and my parents want to go too. Hey--maybe you and Landon could come down and join us! I'll keep you posted when we get closer to making a decision! You will LOVE renting points! And a 21st bday sounds great! I guess that would be my 24th? or 25th? Who knows where we'll even be by that time.... But I'll for sure keep it in mind! Michael and I have been talking about how much we miss Disney World and we'd like to go back sooner than we were planning on at first.

Haha--he definitely would have! My brother said that next time, he should borrow 3 babies, make the house look all dingy, and say something about how he doesn't have much, but he is so thankful that God has given him these precious kids, and this song is a tribute to them. :rotfl:

I'm glad I'm not the only wimp about ovens! Sometimes Michael has to get it out for me. I'm usually ok with my oven, but if I'm at someone else's house, I freak out. I do NOT want to get burned again!

He liked it, but he was just confused. It's definitely not his favorite of the shows. But maybe he'll like it more next time since he'll know what to expect. I'm SOO glad we got all of those PP pics in AK! I'm sorry you didn't get many! All of the magic shots were a ton of fun. We were so excited to see how they all turned out! Only a few of them didn't end up having the magic. The others were great!

Hi! :welcome: Thanks so much for reading!! Yay--that's so exciting! Have you ever been to AKV before? Or been in Oct? You will love both! I went in Oct in 06, and it was even cooler weather and less crowds than Sept. I hope you have a fantastic trip! Yes, someone actually told me that right after I posted it. I couldn't believe it!! How incredible. I can't believe people are that talented. :goodvibes

Awe! I'm sad for ya'll that Michael didn't win the contest. Hope his prize is good though. I don't think you've posted what that is yet, right? I don't always read thru every post...mainly just the trip updates. Sorry if you've already updated on that!

I'm crossing my fingers that you liked Boma! We're going there for both breakfast and dinner on our trip this May and I'm just a little nervous about dinner. I'm a pretty adventurous eater but DH is not quite as much. He will eat almost anything but I'm afraid he may not actually *enjoy* it like I think I will.

Hope you're feeling better!

Oh definitely keep me updated!! I'm a little sad thinking about how Landon will have been to Florida 4 times before he is even 3 years old and still never have been on a beach! I would love to take him!! :goodvibes

I will also keep you guys posted on April 2011 trip stuff. I probably won't look too in depth until around 7 months-ish out, since I want to rent points. So there's still plenty of time! I'm glad you and Michael are thinking about going back sooner than you guys had planned!!

Oh my gosh, your brother is HILARIOUS!! That's so funny. Pullin' the sympathy card!! :rotfl:

Yeah I HATE getting stuff in and out of ovens!! I seriously think my parents are CRAZY for putting stuff in the oven without mitts. It freaks me out to do that. I don't care if the pan I am holding isn't hot yet, everything else is!! I'll probably have to have my husband take stuff out of the oven for me a lot too! I can do it when I have to, but just would rather not!!

I think its kind of hilarious to see the special PP pics without the magic touch. I have one like that where my mom and I were supposed to be holding balloons and we just look like big goobers posing for no reason. :rotfl:

Are you serious?! I can't believe that 6th graders haven't seen Pocahontas! My sister is in 7th, and it was her favorite movie. Today during class, we were reading an excerpt from The Wind in the Willows. I just HAD to mention Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, but only 2 of them remember it/have heard of it. Of course, I then had to tell them about how the Pooh ride pays homage to Mr. Toad! (And yes, my lovely 6th grade boys started cracking up when I said "Pooh"!)

I found the video! Haha, I copied and pasted exactly what you said. He sings so well! I especially love the chorus. That's probably one of the first few Christian songs that I remembered listening to that was more of a modern group (as opposed to Steve Green and Michael W. Smith). This was probably back in 1998 or something because they had that song on one of the WOW CDs.
